These Life Protips Help Us Navigate All Parts Of Our Lives

We're trying a little something new today by taking a look at some of tips Reddit users have shared on r/lifeprotips! I'm really excited because there is a lot of really good advice in there, and I really enjoyed reading through it.

So, without spoiling anything, here are some of my favorite tips to help us navigate our lives!

1. "If you're a student, always befriend and talk with people who are a few years older than you. They will tell you things that they wished they'd known a couple years ago."

I wish I had this advice from reddit user StormsEye when I was in college. I also wish I'd befriended more younger students to help them out along the way.

2. "If you're a man with modestly sized feet (roughly size 9 or under), then you should buy large junior's socks instead of men's socks. They are not only cheaper, but they'll also fit more snugly."

As a woman, I can confirm that this works for my feet as well.

3. "Protect your hearing! If you can hear the music from your earbuds while holding them arms distance away, it's too loud and can damage your hearing."

I think I should send this to a couple of my colleagues! Thanks to The785 for the tip.

4. "If you have to store something in an off oven, place a sticky note over the knob or button with a reminder of what's inside to prevent anyone from turning the oven on."

I try to avoid keeping my kitchen stuff in the oven, but if you don't have much storage space, this is a super smart trick from chocol8wasted!

5. "A shocking amount of tech thrown away on the side of the road is in mint condition."

This Reddit user says they've found a ton of great stuff digging through what they've found curbside.

6. "Frozen grapes are a tasty snack and a healthier alternative to sugary popsicles for kids."

YouTube | Make It All Maniac

I absolutely love frozen grapes, and they make pretty solid ice cubes for your white wine, too. Thanks to Reddit user ds3101 for sharing this smart idea!

7. "Drink canned drinks over bottled drinks because cans hold the fizz for longer and provide a better taste due to the aluminium."

I've never really thought about it before, but I do enjoy a can of soda over a bottled one. Thanks to MagicCards_youtube for telling me why!

8. "Got fruit flies? Spray them with extra strength hairspray. 1-2 sprays will land them and you can wipe them up!"

Chick Advisor | Chick Advisor

I normally use a little bowl of vinegar and soap to catch fruit flies, but according to ReallySeriously78, hair spray works too!

9. "The rims of the mini paper cups used to hold condiments are adjustable so you can accommodate for larger foods."

I love to dip my burgers in ketchup, so this tip from menardo3 is absolutely perfect for me.

10. "Getting married soon? Order a smaller wedding cake."

While the tradition is to freeze the top tier of your wedding cake to eat on the first anniversary of your wedding, rtgurley recommends going back to the bakery after a year and ordering a smaller version of your cake to enjoy.

11. "An easy way to neutralize smelly shoes is vodka. It kills odor-causing bacteria and evaporates without a trace."

While drinking vodka isn't going to make your feet smell any less, according to d_bagel,spraying your shoes with it will.

12. "Always save spare change."

Saving your change in a jar or piggy bank can definitely add up. My boyfriend recently saved over $1,000 by saving his coins in a change jar. ThePizzaGuy shared this smart tip!

13. "If your shower drain seems clogged, don't spend on liquid plumber. Instead, simply unscrew the top of the drain and check the tiny compartment underneath. That's most often what is clogged with hair, and it is easily removed in seconds."

A colleague of mine actually just told me about this hack! Time to give this tip from the_y_of_the_tiger a try!

14. "When drinking with your boss or manager, always stay at least one drink behind them."

Wikipedia | Wikipedia

You spend a lot of time with the people you work with, so it just makes sense you will eventually have drinks with them. I guess nylons23 thinks this will save you from saying anything you'll regret.

15. "Trying to remove a 3M command strip but it breaks early when you pull it down? Try rotating the bracket 90°, it should remove easily."

In Sync Design | In Sync Design

There have definitely been times where I've accidentally taken a Command Strip off wrong. I'll have to try this tip from steinauf85!

16. "Got a thiccc desk that your binder clips can't latch onto for cord organizing? Use tape and paper clips!"

Imgur | Imgur

It's definitely not as simple as using binder clips, but it's actually a cute idea from deadandrad.

17. "Put used or empty 'glade plug-ins' in your linen closet and it will keep the closet and linens smelling fresh for months."

I'm down for any hack that makes my closet smell fresh! Thanks to chirs5757 for this one.

18. "Water bottles and water bottle caps are recycled separately, so remove the caps before throwing them in your recycling bin to make the process easier for recycling plants."

It's totally important to do your part to recycle, and it looks like we can make someone's life easier, too. I had no idea this was a thing, so thank you to menardo3!

19. "When you get a new job save the description and requirements from the application and use it later for adding to your resume."

This is such an easy way to keep yourrésumé up to date! Such a smart idea from hey_im_allison.

20. "If a service dog without a person approaches you, it means that the person is in need of help."

Hurtburt | Hurtburt

I didn't know about this one! Definitely important to know in case this happens, so thanks to _Ryanite_3 for this smart tip.

21. "Try to go early to the gym on Mondays. It's highly unlikely it will be crowded on Mondays because that's the day lots of people decide to start going, but never end up continuing."

Sounds like a pretty logical idea to me! Maybe I'll give it a try thanks to countfloydus.

22. "When beginning a romantic relationship, archive all your text messages to each other. The ability to go back and see how obsessed you were with each other could help you get through tough times."

This could also be great for remembering key things in your relationship, like the location of your first date or first kiss. This is such an adorable idea from ImCame!

23. "Be respectful to the flight attendants. Their days are longer than yours, and it’s also frustrating to fly with annoying people."

While this might seem like common sense, some people need a tip to remember to be kind and generous. A good suggestion from vothster.

24. "When dealing with companies get better service by using their terminology. If the dumpster company keeps calling it a 'container', do so as well. Little things like that show that you respect what they do and are not trying to come across as better than them."
