Meghan Markle's Pregnancy Announcement Dress Holds A Special Significance

As you most likely have heard by now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child. The news is the best and most exciting we've received thus far in 2021 and I stand by that statement with my mind, body, and soul.

The picture holds not only a special place in my heart but a secret significance that is almost too cute for words!

The news of Meghan's pregnancy was announced on Valentine's Day with a beautiful, intimate photograph.

Fans quickly noticed the pair chose to announce their pregnancy the same day Princess Diana announced her pregnancy with Harry 37 years ago.

The couple's longtime friend and photographer, Misan Harriman, shared the photo on their Instagram.

"Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!" they shared.

Meghan and Harry's pregnancy news was extra special considering the pain the pair has gone through.

As fans may recall, Meghan shared a heartbreaking essay about her miscarriage this past summer.

Back in November, Meghan published an essay with The New York Times about the tragedy she and her husband had gone through.

She began the essay by explaining that the day she lost her baby was a day like any other.

Tragedy struck on a "morning that began as ordinarily as any other day: Make breakfast. Feed the dogs. Take vitamins. Find that missing sock. Pick up the rogue crayon that rolled under the table. Throw my hair in a ponytail before getting my son from his crib."

"After changing his [Archie's] diaper, I felt a sharp cramp."

"I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right," she wrote, as per TMZ.

"I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, I was losing my second," Meghan revealed.

"Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband's hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears."

The 39-year-old went on to explain why she wanted to share her story:

"Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few... In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage."

"Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning."

Needless to say, fans were overjoyed when the pair announced their rainbow baby with their intimate, beautiful picture.

Now, eagle-eyed fans spotted something else special about the photo.

According to People, the soon-to-be mom of two wore a stunning but simple floor-length Carolina Herrera dress. That very dress was made for her while she was pregnant with her first son, Archie.

The publication reports that the duchess has a longtime friendship with the brand's creative director, Wes Gordon.

There's something so awesome about royals re-wearing their clothes, just like the rest of us, especially when it's maternity clothes! They're just so special!

We can't way to meet baby #2!
