This Guy’s Texts To His Ex Girlfriend The Day Before His Wedding Have People Torn

As much as we try to leave failed relationships in the past, it's almost impossible not to think about them from time to time — and maybe even compare them to what we have now. Sometimes, this self-reflection can lead to something truly profound.

Marriage is a big deal.

Marriage is the ultimate stress test for a relationship. Even when you're sure you're with the right person, the prospect of committing to someone for the rest of your life is a pretty heavy thing to contemplate.

It's hard to say what exactly your feelings will be on the big day, but some people might find themselves feeling a little nostalgic, so to speak.

I'm not talking about "cold feet" here. I'm talking about reflecting back on all the wrong people you had to welcome into your life before you eventually found the right person. It's a journey, and you've made it to the end with (hopefully) the person of your dreams.

But that's not to say you can't think about all the other people who have brought you to this point.

Maybe you got closure with most of them — you were able to pour your heart out, make your feelings known (whatever they may be), and you left those relationships feeling like there was nothing left unsaid.

But then again, maybe you didn't.

Let's meet Alexsa Sanchez Aguilar.

No, Alexsa isn't getting married. But the imminent marriage of someone who was once very close to her prompted a recent Twitter thread — and it's hard to know how to feel about it.

Alexsa got this recent text.

The blacked-out parts hide her ex-boyfriend's name and a swear word respectively. In short, her ex reached out to her, totally out of the blue. I know what you're thinking. But it's not like that. At least, I'm pretty sure it's not like that.

Wow.

Alexsa gave these screengrabs the title "I'm speechless", and you can see why. Her ex wrote a total essay, at least by text messaging standards, about their past.

Hmmm.

You know, sending an ex an unprompted text on the eve of your wedding doesn't seem like a good thing on the surface. The guy says his fiancee is good with it, but...I don't know.

Twitter weighed in.

This tweet mirrors my initial reaction. There are all kinds of experiences that can prompt personal growth, but sometimes you have to keep that stuff to yourself, you know?

Some people see the good in everyone.

Despite my skepticism, it's nice to see this kind of positivity. Taken at face value, the text exchange is actually kind of sweet. Maybe it's best not to left things unsaid after all.

Others feel like Alexsa should feel a little insulted.

Which I suppose is a fair take on this whole situation, though definitely a little dramatic if you ask me.

Comme ci, comme ca.

Honestly, this kind of take is probably the most reasonable response. Only two people in the whole world understand the dynamic of their past relationship, so it's tough to know how to judge things.

What do you say to that though?

Twitter | @Ciara_Infinity_

I'm sure Alexsa is keeping her response private for a reason, whatever it may have been. So we'll just have to wonder what she told him after he sent her that long, emotional message. Use your imagination, guys.

Maybe.

I think there's a fine line between healthy emotional maturity and over-emoting all over the place, and this guy may have just stumbled all over it. But it's all in the eye of the beholder.

What happened?

Twitter | @_xolexc

We don't get a ton of backstory to this whole exchange, but Alexsa did answer the question of what happened to end their relationship. It sounds like things were pretty healthy on the whole.

At the end of the day, our opinions on this text exchange really doesn't matter whatsoever.

Yes, Alexsa did share it to the entire internet so she was certainly opening up the private texts to some potentially (and let's face it, statistically) judgmental people.

But really, it doesn't matter what we think at all. This is between them, not us. We're just the audience, not the participants.

Tell 'em.

Perhaps the best way to look at this is through Alexsa's lens. She isn't treating it as a creepy message, she sees it as genuinely touching — so maybe that's how it really is.

Happy wedding day, random ex!

This is either a heartwarmingly mature exchange, or a last-ditch cry for help before committing to a lifetime with someone. Make sure to check out Alexsa's tweet, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
