Today Marks 10 Years Since Patrick Swayze's Death

Today marks 10 years since the world lost an incredible talent.

Patrick Swayze, best known for his roles in Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and Road House, died at the age of 57 after a battle with pancreatic cancer on September 14th, 2009.

Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi met when they were teenagers, when Niemi was taking dance lessons from Swayze's mother.

The pair married in 1975 and remained together until he Swayze's death. Their love story is highlighted in the recently released documentary I Am Patrick Swayze.

The documentary was made by Niemi as a tribute to her husband.

The film features many of Swayze's co-stars and friends, including Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Sam Elliot and Jennifer Grey.

Swayze's iconic film roles helped highlight his vast range of talents throughout the entirety of his acting career.

In addition to being an award-winning actor, Swayze was a gymnast, cowboy, singer, songwriter and ballet dancer.

Niemi spoke to "Entertainment Tonight" about Swayze's cancer battle, calling it "the worst thing in the world to go through."

"You spend every day fighting for that person's life," she continued.

"I know that he spent every day fighting for his own ... He survived 22 months, which was miraculous with the diagnosis that he received."

Patrick Swayze's influence and ability to break stereotypes and boundaries in Hollywood can still be felt today.
