A Bride Kicked Her Best Friend Out Of The Bridal Party For Refusing To Wear A Wig

Wedding's are meant to be such delightful occasions filled with happiness and joy. They're about gathering friends and family together to celebrate the love between a couple. Unfortunately, planning the "perfect" wedding can create toxic behaviors from many of the people involved, and their true colors really show.

One bride decided to kick her best friend out of her wedding because she is bald and refused to wear a wig.

A bridesmaid took to the subreddit r/bridezillas to share an unfortunate bridezilla story about none other than her best friend.

She expressed that when her friend first got engaged, she immediately asked her to be her bridesmaid, following second to her sister, the Maid of Honor.

She was obviously elated, to say the least.

Unfortunately during this time, she has had to go through radiation and chemotherapy due to a medical issue, making her hair fall out.

She's been very active in the survivor community, and her friend getting married has always been supportive.

Or so the ex-bridesmaid thought.

Her friend, who she is calling Karen in the post, wanted to celebrate the OP's remission and end of treatment by treating her to a spa day, with an unexpected and unwanted trip to a wig store.

"I am a little taken aback by this because Karen knows that a lot of the work I have been involves psychological treatment in cancer patients and avoiding the shame associated with hair loss for instance," she wrote. It's triggering for her.

"I politely go through the appointment and even try on some wigs although I was quite upset honestly. I politely decline when she offers to pick one out and try to forget the whole ordeal."

"So she calls me yesterday and tells me that I can't be in the bridal party any longer because the minister stated there are too many people in the bridal party."

The bridesmaid ended up putting some pieces together from other bridesmaids in the bridal party that the bride-to-be was essentially worried about how a bald head would look in photos.

Understandably, this was very upsetting to the OP.

After trying to get hold of Karen for quite a bit of time, she finally answered, and insisted that her removal was completely based on the minister's words.

Karen also went on to accuse her friend of negatively changing.

"She said she helped me a lot and that I’m not returning the favor by being a team player," the OP wrote.

While her friend never said for certain that her baldness is what ousted her from the bridal troupe, OP certainly got that feeling from their phone conversation.

"I think I’m done with her and I don’t think I can bring myself to go to the wedding. I thought she was a different person then a self interested bride," she concluded.

Wow. It's hard to believe this is a real story. People are really not impressed with Karen, and feel that she is just another example of a bride who treats her bridesmaids like props.

One Reddit user wrote, "Wow that’s horrendous! I hate the fact bridesmaids are to some extent by some brides treated like props for photographs rather than what they should be."

One person felt that Karen crossed a major boundary with cancer recovery.

"Wig shopping after cancer treatment seems like something super personal to me. I think Karen should have discussed this with you, before she took you to this shop and tried to buy you a wig," they wrote.

Most people called the bride-to-be out for being extremely insensitive, selfish, and rude.

The bottom line is, if someone is important in your life, you want them to be in your bridal party no matter what.
