13+ Creative Hotels That Make Sure Your Stay Is Memorable

For a long time, the mark of a quality hotel was that you could expect the same experience and service at every location, regardless of where in the world you were traveling to.

But these days people are beginning to expect a bit more from our hotels then a basic place to sleep. We want them to be part of the experience of our trip. So hotels are upping their games and finding creative ways to make our stay memorable.

"Hotel maid clearly found my sunglasses," said rolaskating.

Well, how else is a towel elephant supposed to accessorize?

I always miss out on this stuff because I leave the Do Not Disturb sign up for my whole visit.

This towellgator is up to no good!

Reddit | LuisSweden

Not only did he steal someone's sunglasses, but he's eating a toy!

(Please tell me that I'm not the only one being made twitchy by the bed/headboard situation happening in the background...)

I love these alternatives to the standard Do Not Disturb sign.

Reddit | tarhawk

Particularly the simple "Nope".

Can I have one that says "I have an irrational thing about strangers being in my space, so don't worry, I've got enough towels"?

Running out of toilet paper? No problem!

This robot is happy to drop off another roll and won't judge you for having gone through the rolls already provided so quickly.

"Rubber duckie you're the one..."

This hotel's bath amenities include a friend.

"You make bath time lots of fun. Rubber duckie I'm awfully fond of you..."

Everyone steals hotel toiletries, but don't worry, this hotel's in on it.

They've included it on their handy checklist!

Most hotels are fine with you taking the soap, since they can't leave them for the next customer.

This hotel found another way to deal with stealing.

This handy note is a great way of saying "If you steal it, expect us to charge it to your bill."

Some hotels are finding other ways to cut down on waste.

Instead of individual, wasteful mini bottles, they use full-sized ones with simple-to-use dispensers.

Speaking of stealing things, this hotel is in on the stationery thieves too.

Reddit | _TonaldDrump

I mean, that's why most hotels and offices have their logos on the pens and pads of paper anyway. It's free advertising.

This one's particularly funny, though, due to the hotel in question.

It's becoming more common for roofs to house urban beekeeping operations.

This hotel has hives on its roof and gives every guest a free sample. This is way cooler than a mint on the pillow.

"I didn't think this sort of thing really happens," said Redditor habitsofwaste.

When they made their reservation, they asked for the staff to hide a picture of Robert Downey Jr. in the room. And then promptly forgot about the request until it was time for a shower.

This person requested a pillow fort and the staff totally delivered.

The sign is what amazes me. Either they thought the request was funny enough to make it specially, or this is a common occurrence.

This hallway is straight out of a '90s first person shooter game.

The whimsy and blocky aesthetic makes sense when you know that this is part of the Legoland hotel. Different floors and rooms have different adventure themes.

If you like a little greenery, this hotel has plants you can borrow for your room.

Reddit | McPebbster

This is a great idea, since it means guests who like plants can have the pleasure of real ones without the insane maintenance of trying to keep permanent, live plants alive in every room of a large hotel.

This hostel in Germany is filled with vintage trailers.

Reddit | Proteon

This is way cooler than the usual bunk beds and definitely makes your stay memorable.

And Instagram-worthy, which can be a huge draw these days.

Here's another unique place to sleep.

The hotel used to be a train station and some of the vintage cars have been converted to rooms.

If it ain't broke...

Reddit | Long-Danzi

There was probably a time when this hotel worried that their old punch card locks were a sign to stay away, but they toughed it out and now they're a novelty again.

And, bonus, they aren't stupidly easy to demagnetize.

Forget defogging mirrors, this one has a TV.

Reddit | AmeliaJane920

Is it a novelty? Sure, but still neat.

They really should have designed the room so that the toilet faces the mirror, though. Just sayin'.

That TV mirror is nice, but check out this bathroom beer fridge.

Reddit | innerpurification

Do I want to know what one of those cans costs? Nope, but I'd pay once just for the novelty.

Okay, this isn't really the hotel's doing.

Reddit | bunnylicious

Save that they have a skylight in the room, but look! You can see what a bird looks like from underneath! It's almost cartoony!

Good hotels do their best to soundproof their rooms, but it can only go so far.

So this hotel has white noise machines built into each room.

The Goldilocks of showers.

The lights in this shower head tell you exactly what temperature the water is. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right.

This soap is a powder.

Reddit | sleddirleveret

It's actually pretty smart, since it'd be less messy to refill and a few flakes are easier to clean up from the counter than a big spill of liquid soap.

Everything matches black.

Reddit | festisredbull

Is black toilet paper cost efficient or even all that practical? Nope, but you know you'll remember the hotel after you leave.

A room with a view.

Reddit | TastyBoye

Or rather, a tree inside the actual room. Which is pretty neat and definitely memorable.

Sure, this is just a door, but it closes two different ways.

Reddit | Jave85

That actually takes some serious engineering skill to do right and also solves the problem of toilet privacy without blocking people from using the rest of the bathroom.

The opposite of an energy drink.

Reddit | csplex

Most of us aren't looking for caffeine, but actually a good night's sleep. So this hotel has melatonin beverages available to help you relax.

How much was the tip?

Reddit | mnext

Redditor mnext posted this with the caption: "This is what happens if you tip Egyptian hotel service generously."

It looks like they used enough towels for half a dozen rooms.

Durian would definitely make you stay interesting — in the wrong way.

The fruit is notorious for its horrible smell, which is often described as being like something died and rotted. So it makes sense that hotels in countries the fruit is common would ban them.

It's also a pretty cute phone. Sadly, ToxicSteve13 says that when they called it there was no story, just an excuse about writers' block.
