13+ Creepy Pics That Prove You Should Never Snoop Around Your Parents' House

Contrary to what you may have learned from the Goonies as a kid, snooping around is very rarely a good idea, and this is especially true when it comes to your parents house. Instead of finding clues which will lead you on an adventure where you forge an unlikely alliance with a lovable rogue or two and ultimately discover pirate treasure, you're more likely to find things which were hidden for your own good - such as a lamp made out of decapitated barbie dolls... yes really.

People have been taking to the internet to share some of the more bizarre and unsettling things that they found in their parents house. Some of these things are so weird that it's hard to believe that they weren't hidden purely to teach a lesson about the dangers of snooping.

"My Mom's Teeth And My Father In Law's Glass Eye"

Twitter | @Pattiwithaneye

It's good to keep mementos of those that we've lost, but, is this maybe a little too personal?!

Toad-ally Creepy

Reddit | Amber_Brown

(See what I did there, it's like totally, but I said 'toad-ally', genius I know.) These taxidermy purses are actually not that uncommon, the zip is underneath in case you were wondering, 'cause why wouldn't you be!

Coffin Of Moths

Reddit | Vampilton

Aside from sounding like a late '80s metal band, a coffin of moths is a quite unnerving thing to keep. The date on it says 1972; that's a long time to be keeping hold of two dead moths!

"My Mother Made A Thing"

Twitter | @ktatroe

Your mother may have made a thing, Kevin, but I think that she may have been instructed to make that thing by the Antichrist itself.

*Muffled Screams*

Mumbled pleading to be released...

"Found At My Parents House, They're Baby Boomers And They Have No Idea What It Is"

Reddit | pendragwen

Now, this isn't anything near as horrific as you may be thinking, you dirty minded millennial, shame on you! This is actually a pan scraper - there, now don't you feel ridiculous!

Not Again...

Reddit | Merciman

Again, I feel like I should point out straight away that this is a completely innocent item, although the user who posted it on Reddit was not convinced when they found it.

These are actually for putting over your boots when walking in snow... that's what I read and that's what I'm telling myself anyway!

Something A Little More Wholesome For You... Just A Tasteless Frog Playing The Guitar

Reddit | velcrosandles

Thankfully, this one wasn't related to anything of the sordid nature... well, dear God I hope it isn't anyway. What I did find most strange about this one was the sheer volume of phone books these people have amassed! That strikes of some serial killer behavior, or perhaps I've just been watching too much Mindhunter.

Holder Of Toilet Rolls & Children's Souls

Twitter | @MIGlutenFreeGal

Just a hard no for this one. Was it an artistic choice to remove the eyes, or did it happen naturally? You know what? I don't want to know.

"Photo Over The Toilet Of Friend's Parents House"

Reddit | thedonsmithy

I was always nervous of going to the toilet in friends' houses when I was a kid (yeah, it's a weird thing, but leave me alone; surely at least one other person felt the same?) and having this photo stare at me would definitely not have helped.

It's Trying Its Best Dammit!

Twitter | @OhHeyGuysItsMax

Being a terrifying work of abstract art can be a hard job, but someone's got to do it, so cut it some slack. It looks very self-conscious!

"I Swear To God, The **** I Find In My Parent's House..."

Reddit | Achrist466

Is it just me who doesn't get why parents seem to love hoarding strange taxidermy animals (great band name, btw)? At least they made it look like the piraƱa is having a great time, I guess.

Just The Worst Water Jug Ever...

Reddit | Sylvi2021

Is it a demonic pig head? Is it a vessel for the soul of the Antichrist? Is it the face I see when I turn the lights out at night?

No! It's the worst water jug of all time; drink from it at your peril!

"Stopped By My Parents House And Found These"

Reddit | BakedTadpole

Thankfully, it was eventually revealed that this person's mother worked for Limbs For Life, so there was actually a wonderful reason for having a truck full of legs!

I can't imagine that would be too easy to explain if you got pulled over though:

"What seems to be the problem, officer?"

"I think you know what the problem is, ma'am."

"Few Times Have I Been More Horrified Than When I Found This In My Parents' Basement Four Years Ago"

Twitter | @evanbirnholz

Someone clearly never got over painting faces on eggs as a child. Instead, they decided to perfect the art form and inadvertently create one of the most mysteriously unsettling pieces of artwork I've ever seen.

"My Parent's Stairway To The Basement Has The Creepiest Wallpaper"

Reddit | nectrotic

I can only assume that they made this wallpaper themselves. Either that or there's a person working in a home decor shop somewhere who is the greatest salesman of all time.

"A Director's Chair With A Stain That Looks Like Darwin Holding A MacBook"

Twitter | @AudDayWilliams

I feel like this is one of those images where what you see says a lot about you as a person. One thing is for sure, I wouldn't fancy sitting on it.

This Bottle Stopper...

Twitter | @Mcfarlmo

According to Twitter user @Mcfarlmo, this is actually an old bottle stopper, and by the looks of it, a heart stopper too.

"This Was In My Brothers Room When He Was Little"

Reddit | u/Amkehoe

The fact that this wasn't even hidden, but was actually on display in a child's room is what is baffling here. Would you be able to sleep with this looking over you? I know for sure I wouldn't.

Introducing Your Newest Phobia... The Ventriloquist Scarecrow

Twitter | @shavely

Is the aim to scare birds away or people here? I mean, why does it need to have that expression? I feel like it can see me mocking it through the screen.
