Woman Ends Up In Hospital After All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Binge

All-you-can-eat sushi is both a blessing and a curse.

While the prospect of an unlimited sushi feast is no doubt tantalizing, it isn't without its risks. We've all tempted fate at an all-you-can-eat buffet once or twice, haven't we? You want to get your money's worth! But there are limits.

A TikToker learned this lesson in a painful way after her sushi binge put her in a hospital bed.

What's your all-you-can-eat strategy?

If we're talking sushi, I like to get my appies in before delving into the full sushi rolls. That way, I can see how full I feel after round one and let that inform me as to how I should order for round two.

TikToker Danielle Shapiro had a sushi night to remember.

Danielle, who you can find on TikTok @danielleshap, chronicled her recent night out. It started with gyoza, graduated to jalapeno poppers and then moved onto the sushi itself. Unfortunately, it seems Danielle went a bit overboard.

She wound up going pretty hard.

After the appetizers, Danielle dug into a huge plate of sushi. In addition to the four gyozas, two jalapeno poppers and bowl of edamame, she also ate an impressive 32 sushi rolls.

That's a lot of sushi.

In the end, it was too much.

The end of Danielle's first video shows her looking rather green around the gills and tucking some uneaten sushi into a napkin so she won't have to pay extra for uneaten food. You can tell a stomach ache is on its way.

Let's take a moment and admire Danielle's dedication.

We've shared some stills from Danielle's sushi odyssey, but you really need to watch the full minute-long TikTok to properly appreciate how epic her feast was.

Give it a look, then come back. We've got updates.

She woke up the next morning with a terrible stomach ache.

This is hardly surprising after eating a lot of sushi. But when Danielle started experiencing intense pain and having trouble breathing, she knew that this wasn't an ordinary sushi hangover.

Let's check in with Danielle.

In her next video, Danielle has traded the confines of the sushi restaurant for a hospital bed.

While she almost certainly ate too much, it wasn't necessarily the volume of the food that was the issue here.

What's the diagnosis?

After some time in hospital, Danielle was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease. It's a common condition that can be treated with medication, but the side effects can be unpleasant — especially after eating a metric ton of sushi.
