Apparently, There’s A Correct Way To Use Dry Shampoo

Guys, I have amazing news: Someone on the internet has actually posted a useful beauty tip.

I know. This is a big deal, especially considering that most beauty "hacks" are just dumb tricks designed to get clicks and likes. Not this one, though. This one will actually teach you something. What a nice change of pace!

So, dry shampoo.

My one true savior. I have super oily bangs, so I use dry shampoo pretty frequently between washes. However, according to Rachel Bowling (@rtbowling25) on Instagram, I've been using my shampoo all wrong.

You use dry shampoo when your hair is oily, right?

Nope. Instead of using it once your hair is oily, Rachel recommends you actually spray your roots after you wash it — after it's dried, of course. Don't put dry shampoo in wet hair. That would be so nasty.

The goal is prevention, not covering it up.

Instead of waiting until your hair is oily, stop the oil in its tracks with a few preventative sprays of your dry shampoo. Do a light dusting along with your roots, then let it work its magic!

Um, WHAT.

This hack just blew my mind. Of course, it makes more sense to use the shampoo to stop the oil buildup before it starts! It should be a shield for your hair, not a mop for your oil.

People were shocked.

This one is a game-changer, guys. Your hair is about to become so unwashed, but in a non-gross way. Oh, you know what I mean.

The thing that surprised me the most? A lot of people had already heard of this trick!

I can't believe I didn't know this.

Even those who didn't think dry shampoo worked for them found success with this tip. I wish dry shampoo companies would make this tip more explicit on their packaging and marketing, you know?

Rachel also shared some shampoo recommendations.

When asked what brand she likes to use, Rachel named IGK's Detox Charcoal Dry Shampoo. I went ahead and found it at Sephora, but it's also available on Amazon. I mean, what isn't these days?

I can't believe how many people knew this one.

Why weren't y'all sharing with the class, huh? Here I was spraying dry shampoo onto my oily roots and then wondering why my roots were oily again within a few hours. UGH.

What do you think of this tip?

I'm a huge fan of tips that are actually useful, so you can imagine how pleased I am to have leaned something new today.
