Brilliant Wallpaper Hacks Solves Annoying Socket Problem

Prepare to be satisfied.

TikTok has no shortage of decor trends, home hacks, and satisfying videos. But to have all of those combined into one video? Now that's something worth watching.

Enter Kevin D, aka @myart1979. He posted a video demonstrating how he wallpapers around those pesky sockets we hate to need, and it is nice. Let's check it out.

Wallpapering is hard.

While I'm glad that wallpaper is back in a big way, I am not so glad about the whole "having to wallpaper" thing. It's hard work, it's incredibly difficult to get perfect, and there's so many obstacles that you have to work around — like oh, you know, sockets.

This hack wants to change how you wallpaper.

If you're wallpapering near a socket, this hack is going to help a lot. Before gluing down the paper, lay it over the socket and feel out where the edges of the socket's frame are.

Grab a box cutter.

Cut the wallpaper diagonally from one corner to the other. Repeat this process with the other corner until you have a a perfect 'x' over your socket. Work slowly to get the best possible fit.

Then stick the paper to the wall.

Smooth paper down until you get to the socket. You'll notice that the paper fits perfectly around the socket now! Ugh, look how satisfying that is. But wait — it's about to get better.

Cut off the excess.

Use a guide to press the edges down onto the socket, then use the knife to cut a perfectly crisp line along the sides. Repeat this process until every corner is cut off!

Finish up along the bottom.

After you're done with the socket, finish along the baseboard. Voilá! You have a perfect wallpaper job around the socket. I cannot begin to explain how satisfying this is to me, you guys.

I love comments like these.

I love when people assume you know everything they know.

Everyone has to learn something for the first time. This TikTok is for those people, not for "professionals" who clearly already have this knowledge. We gotta be nicer to each other on the internet, y'all.

Others suggested an alternative method.

A lot of professionals suggested simply removing the socket frame and wallpapering underneath it. That's my preferred method too, but this is a great hack for those who don't want to do that!

What do you think?

Is this something you would try while wallpapering, or would you remove the socket before you go?
