Weird Beauty Hack Has People Popping Their Beauty Blenders In The Freezer

You know, I have seen some weird beauty tips in my time. I've seen the spoon eyeliner trick, the clown contour, the wiggly eyebrows.

However, seeing someone take a $20 beauty sponge and pop it in their freezer is a new one for me. People on TikTok swear by the method, but is it as actually life-changing as they make it seem? Let's find out.

Here's where it started.

According to TikTok user @gwmakeup, freezing your beauty sponge/Beauty Blender is the key to a flawless finish. Simply wet the sponge as normal, squeeze out the excess water, and then pop it in the freezer for one hour.

Then you apply your foundation like usual.

The foundation is apparently supposed to have a smooth, flawless finish that you can't get with a regular, warm beauty sponge.

While her skin does look smooth, people had a LOT of questions.

Wouldn't the sponge be like ice?

Apparently, you're supposed to wait for the sponge to thaw a bit before you use it. So... you have to wait an hour for it to freeze, then another, what — half hour for it to thaw a little? This is a lot of work.

Some people did give it a go.

Marcha here had a bad experience with the hack — apparently, their foundation came off their face pretty quickly. That's probably because of all the excess water, tbh.

Someone actually tried it, though.

Meet Mikayla Nogueira, aka the funniest beauty influencer you'll ever watch. She had a wild time trying this hack.

"This is hard as a rock. Like you can barely squeeze it. It’s really cold. What the f—"

Same.

It felt weird.

"It feels really nice and cold when you touch the face, but see it’s not even movin’? It’s so hard. I don’t really get the science. All it’s really doin’ is freezin’ the water inside of the sponge," she said.

She didn't hate it, but she didn't love it.

" It feels really weird. It feels really good. It’s really cold and it feels like a spa facial. It’s really weird though, ‘cause the sponge is not bouncin’, you know what I’m sayin’? It feels like blending out my foundation with a rock."

Honestly, it didn't change much.

"It feels really cold. It feels really good though, like an ice roller under the eyes, you know? It sets just as smooth as a non-frozen sponge. I think my makeup looks exactly like it always does."

I think this comment sums it up nicely.

You can totally pop your skincare and liquid products in a cosmetic fridge (or even your regular fridge) and achieve the same cooling result, without possibly destroying your Beauty Blender. Problem solved!
