Lifeguards Carry 95-Year-Old On Vacation To The Beach Every Day

There are some people in the world who are just such good humans, that it restores our faith and hope in society.

In such a dark and twisted world, seeing the good in humanity and in people can be really rare. That's why we can't help but want to celebrate those who do heroic and nice things for others in the world.

When our parents go through health struggles, it can give us some perspective.

Kimberly Waterbury knew just that when her 95-year-old mother suffered a stroke four years ago.

After the scare, she decided to document all of their memories so that her mother can look through them in a book. Looking back, they had a ton of trips.

One of the trips they had taken was to Alabama.

After seeing the trip and the photos in the memory book, Waterbury's mother, Dottie Schneider, wanted to go back immediately.

So, that's just what the two of them did together—which, is such a sweet and touching gesture from Kimberly.

The mother and daughter spent weeks planning their trip.

Kimberly shared that the two had been planning their beach vacation since the spring.

“We’ve been talking about this for months. We were counting off the months, weeks and days," Kimberly told AL.com.

Dottie really wanted to go to the beach, very badly.

During their trip, along with Kimberly's best friend, Dottie said she wanted to feel the "warm, soft sand under her feet."

So, Kimberly set out to make that dream a reality. But, she needed a little bit of help from some kind strangers.

When they got to the beach, Kimberly had a bit of trouble.

Dottie uses a wheelchair, so Kimberly was having some trouble getting it through the sand outside of their hotel.

Kimberly has a bad wrist, so pushing the wheelchair was not easy. Plus, pushing a wheelchair through the sand is not an easy task.

Then, a lifeguard saw the struggle.

A lifeguard with Orange Beach Surf Rescue saw what was going on with Kimberly and Dottie and decided that he would step in and help the mother-daughter duo out.

Shane Martin, the lifeguard who was on duty, pulled up and asked if they needed help.

Martin got Dottie into his lifeguard buggie and then drove her all the way down the beach to her chairs and umbrella.

But, he also stepped up and made sure Dottie was able to get comfortable in her beach chair, as well.

Martin lifted Dottie into his arms and got her comfortable into her beach chair.

The lifeguards helped Dottie by not only transporting her down the beach but also carrying her to her chair and even making sure she was okay the entire time.

It is truly such a kind gesture from these young lifeguards on staff.

Then, for the rest of the week, the lifeguards met Kimberly and Dottie at the beach.

Throughout their entire trip, the lifeguards coordinated with Kimberly and Dottie to meet them at the top of the beach and make sure Dottie was able to get to her chair and spot on the beach. Their entire trip was taken care of!

Kimberly said they "made their entire trip."

"We are forever indebted to the guys with Orange Beach Surf Rescue. They made my mother feel special. She was not made to feel like she was a burden on anybody," Kimberly said.

And, they made sure she got to put her feet in the sand, just like she wanted to.

We love a heartwarming story!

When it comes down to it, lifeguards are there to serve and protect those on the beach. But, these lifeguards from the Orange Beach Surf Rescue went above and beyond at their job to make sure Dottie was comfortable and safe.

We love this story!
