Woman Asks If She Was Wrong For "Upstaging" Sister By Losing Weight For Wedding

Ah weddings, they really are a time of joy, unbridled happiness, and pure serenity aren't they? Well, they are if you ignore all of the stress that comes with a wedding!

One person experienced their share of wedding stress when they met their sister ahead of their sister's wedding, only to be chewed out by their sister for the strangest of reasons.

Some brides can be a little bit on the...tense side when it comes to their wedding day.

And then there are some brides who take their stress and vent it out at everyone around them!

This, it seems, is what happened to one person who took to Reddit to ask, "Am I the asshole for losing weight before my sister's wedding?"

They explained that they had been making "healthier choices" over the last 12 months.

"I 28F used to be quite overweight, over the last year or so I have made many changes in my life and have successfully lost almost 100lbs. I don't live close to any of my family and don't post on social media so my family wasn't really aware of my weight loss. I did mention that I was making healthier choices but that's it," she started her story by writing.

She also explained that she didn't want to tell too many people about her new lifestyle as they did not want anyone to comment on it.

However, when they met their sister ahead of the wedding, their sister was a little bit surprised by the new look.

Their sister had been forced to push their wedding back a year due to, well, the general state of the world it would appear. The sister was less than happy to see them when they met up before the wedding:

"It's happening a week from now and because I haven't seen everyone in so long I decided to come down two weeks earlier to help out and catch up. Well, when I came to see my family my sister freaked out upon seeing me."

Their sister felt that it was somewhat unfair that our protagonist had lost weight.

"As it turns out she has gained a bit of weight not super noticeable to me she still looks great. But I think this is the first time in our lives that I'm smaller than her I've always been the 'fat sister,'" she wrote.

"[My sister] basically accused me of trying to upstage her and my parents are fully taking her side. I'm really not sure if I'm in the wrong here as so many of my family are taking her side of things."

Yep, you read that right, this person's family are on the sister's side!

People in the comments did not have many nice things to say about the bridezilla.

"With all due respect, your sister needs to get her head out of her backend before she starts choking on the s*** that she's so full of. Iā€™m sorry you have to go through this," wrote one very passionate individual.

Most other people simply said that she should not attend the wedding and cut out her toxic family altogether ā€” however, is that going a little far?

It is shocking that this person's family are being so blindingly self-centred and obnoxious. Hopefully they will be able to patch things up with their sister ā€” if they even want to that is, she does sound like a bit of a...handful.
