Princess Charlotte May Be Inheriting A Special Heirloom From Princess Diana

They say it pays to have famous parents. That may be true, but it pales in comparison to being born into regal royalty. It affords a life of luxury unlike any other.

Children are swaddled in silks and fed with a proverbial silver spoon. All this and more was recently confirmed when it was revealed that Princess Charlotte would be inheriting a special heirloom from Princess Diana.

Princess Charlotte is the eldest daughter of Prince William and Duchess Catherine.

As difficult as it is to accept, Princess Charlotte is now six years old. Although according to her father, she's more like six going on sixteen.

Prince William told The Daily Mail his daughter does what she wants, when she wants.

Charlotte also happens to be the late Princess Diana's eldest granddaughter.

Although Charlotte never had the pleasure of meeting her grandmother, the young girl is well aware of who she was.

All throughout her life, her parents have shown her pictures of Diana, and the Princess' middle name is also her namesake.

Since Charlotte is the first-born granddaughter, this entitles her to certain privileges and advantages.

What this means is that Charlotte will get the first pick of the Royal Family heirlooms. According to Palace sources, Charlotte is set to inherit Diana's coveted Spencer Family Tiara.

Of all the jewels Diana owned in her lifetime, the Spencer Family Tiara is the most famous.

The Spencer Family Tiara is the exact one that Diana wore on her wedding day to Prince Charles. It was also one of Diana's favorite pieces of all that she owned.

Tradition normally dictates that royal brides are loaned a tiara from the Queen on their wedding day.

True to form, Diana opted to go against the grain and throw tradition to the wind. She instead chose to wear one of her own family heirlooms — The Spencer Family Tiara.

To be honest, it's not that shocking that she would do that.

After all, Diana was known for being a bit rebellious for a royal, and seemed to like it that way.

Most people now believe that the tiara was Diana's way of holding on to her own personal identity.

It was how she kept herself grounded.

"Many now see the Spencer tiara as a kind of floral-diamond-rebel-yell from a young woman thrust into a spotlight and a scandal," said Stellene Volandes of Town and Country magazine.

Per Palace sources, Princess Charlotte is aware of this and oozing with excitement.

"Charlotte is more than aware that she’s a princess," a source told New Idea. "And she’s already got plastic tiaras and gowns to play dress-ups in. It’s very cute."

As of right now, Diana's tiara is in the care of her brother Earl Charles Spencer.

William is still close with his uncle and the two have a good healthy relationship to this day.

William's uncle agreed, despite having two daughters of his own.

I would love to know how that conversation went.

According to a Palace insider:

"William is quite aware the Earl has daughters of his own, but the two have agreed that Diana’s iconic piece belongs to her first granddaughter."

On top of inheriting Diana's tiara, Princess Charlotte will also be given a selection of Diana's crown jewels.

Some have even predicted that Charlotte will be gifted the Vladimir Tiara — a highly valuable relic as well as one of Queen Elizabeth's personal favorites.

The Vladimir Tiara is said to contain emeralds that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth's grandmother, Queen Mary.

As if the historical significance wasn't enough, estimates put the monetary value of the Vladimir Tiara somewhere in the neighborhood of £10 million.

So even if Charlotte never becomes Queen, at least she'll never be broke.

I can't help but wonder how little Princess Charlotte will grow up to be, and whether or not she will also pay tribute to Diana the way her mother does.

We will have to wait and see!
