'Ducking' Is The Cute And Squeaky New Trend For Jeep Drivers

Car people have fascinating traditions.

Subaru owners put decorative markers on their cars. And now, it seems that Jeep owners have a new, weird tradition of their own: ducking.

No, that's not a typo. Get your head out of the gutter. "Ducking" is a cute thing Jeep owners are doing to connect with one another both in real life, and online! Let's check it out.

This is Jeep ducking.

See that tiny little duck on the front light? He's part of a phenomenon called "Jeep Ducking," in which Jeep owners leave little rubber ducks on other Jeeps to create a sense of community.

The trend started in Canada.

Canadian Allison Parliament travelled from Alabama to her home country of Canada at the beginning of the pandemic. After an uncomfortable confrontation with a Canadian who insisted she "wasn't welcome" thanks to her American plates, Allison decided to turn that bad energy into good energy.

She bought a rubber duck.

She and her friends bought a duck and wrote a little note to a Jeep owner nearby. Her post about the situation quickly went viral, and Ducking was born!

People look forward to being ducked.

"I FINALLY GOT DUCKED!!! and on my birthday," an Instagram user wrote.

People seriously celebrate when they finally get ducked, and I can see why. In this weird world, having a connection with someone else is a gift!

Each duck usually comes with a little note.

The notes explain the trend to a Jeep owner who may not be in on it, directing them to the #DuckDuckJeep and #DuckingJeeps hashtags on social media.

Some choose to leave cute affirmations, too.

Instead of adding hashtags, they leave sweet notes complimenting the owner on their Jeep. This is possibly the most wholesome car trend I've ever seen, you guys. I love Jeep owners so much now.

People are making merch of the phenomenon, too.

This is just so wholesome. @all_strings_lead_home on Instagram made some stickers to commemorate the trend! Jeep owners can stick these on their cars to let others know they're up for being ducked.

They're even making memes.

I had no idea that the concept of people leaving rubber ducks on Jeeps would make me SO happy, but here we are. This is A+ meme work, people. It's niche, it's well constructed, and it's funny as hell.

Keep it weird, Jeep owners.

It's hard to find things to be happy about these days, but damn if Jeep owners haven't found a way.

Life is all about celebrating joy and creating communities with one another, and Jeep owners are nailing it. Rock on, you duckin' heroes.
