They say that you should never upset anyone who handles your food. In a similar fashion, the last person whom you ever want to upset on your wedding day is your vendors.
After being denied a break and time to eat, this couple's photographer deleted all their wedding photos on the spot. Her actions have social media buzzing, asking whether she was in the right or took things too far?
She begins her post by explaining straight away that she is not a photographer by trade. Dog grooming is her chosen profession and she was doing this as a favor.
Icy-Reserve6995 says that she includes a photo with every dog cut and that she very rarely photographs anything other than dogs.
"I told him it's not really my forte but he convinced me by saying he didn't care if they were perfect: they were on a shoestring budget and I agreed to shoot it for $250, which is nothing for a 10 hour[sic] event."
As someone who is in the process of getting married, let me tell you that it is damned expensive. According to a recent article on WeddingWire, the average cost for wedding photos in the United States hovers at around $2000.
After she had finished taking photos of the bride getting ready, Icy-Reserve6995 then followed along to her various appointments on the day of the wedding — taking pictures as they went.
As stated by Icy-Reserve6995, her day began at roughly 11:30 AM and she was slated to take pictures until roughly 7:30 PM.
"Around 5 PM, food is being served and I was told I cannot stop to eat because I need to be [sic] photographer; in fact, they didn't save me a spot at any table," she said matter-of-factly.
"I'm getting tired and at this point kinda regretting doing this for next to nothing," Icy-Reserve6995 said. "It's also unbelievably hot: the venue is in an old veteran's legion and it's like 110F and there's no AC."
The bride and groom didn't think to feed their vendors. There was no open bar either, so Icy-Reserve6995 couldn't even get a bottle of water.
Icy-Reserve6995 was shocked and taken aback at the way in which her friend was speaking to her. She took a moment to process his words before asking if he was certain?
He replied that indeed he was.
The $250 payday was negligible. Icy-Reserve6995 said she would have gladly paid $250 at that point for a cold glass of water and a bite to eat.
These days, it's common practice to include a meal for your vendors at your wedding. Just imagine if you were the one working all day and were told you weren't allowed to eat — how would you feel?
You either treat vendors with respect or risk the consequences.
