Keke Palmer Shares Picture Of $30,000 Plant-Based Meal From Met Gala

As you most likely know by now, the Met Gala was in full swing last night in NYC for the first time since 2019. There was fabulous fashion, controversial guests, and food. Well, kind of food. It was plant-based food. It was a very light, plant-based appetizer, essentially.

Of course, you don't attend these events in the hopes of getting a Michelin star meal, but come on, you gotta see what they were serving last night.

The Met Gala is one of the most prestigious invites any celebrity in Hollywood can obtain.

The event, usually co-chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, is a celebration of fashion designers, who create couture looks based on the yearly theme.

The designers choose their celebrity guests to attend the event with and to wear their garment, which means obtaining a ticket is at the mercy of Anna and the designers.

While we don't know how much a ticket costs exactly, it's highly accepted that tickets go for $30,000 a pop.

Tables at the gala can range from $275,000 to $500,000, and they can cost even more if they're paid for by sponsors.

For example, Yahoo sponsored the Met Gala 2015 and reportedly paid $3 million for two tables.

Essentially what I'm getting at here is that these tickets are *very* expensive, and should cover the cost of a decent meal.

Sure, that's not everyone's priority, but it sure as heck is mine! Of course, I've always wondered what celebrities sit down to eat in their elaborate garments, and as it turns out, it's super anti-climactic.

Actress Keke Palmer did the Lord's work by sharing a picture of her meal last night, giving all of us a sneak peak at what goes on after celebrities leave the red carpet.

This is the first year cellphones have been permitted at the gala, and I'm wondering if Anna Wintour is regretting their decision...

Please note, the meal was plant-based, which is FINE...

However, this news clearly came as a surprise to Teyanna Taylor, who gave the reaction we all would after finding out there would be no prime rib at the end of all this.

Posting a photo of her plate, Keke wrote: "This why they don’t show y’all the food."

She added that she was "just playinnnn," but honestly, I'm not playing — this looks horrible.

As the astute journalist I am, I have tried to navigate this meal for you all.

I only see an array of sad-looking, soggy vegetables and a mixture of various salads.

Vegan cooking can be totally delicious, and this is not a good representation of that!

Of course, social media can't stop trolling the meal, and wondering what about it should cost $30,000 a head.

"No wonder celebrities go to McDonald’s after these events lol," tweeted one user.

"it looks disgusting i’m sorry," agreed another.

I guess all I can say is I hope that money went to some top-shelf liquor...

"I thought that was a tortilla and she was making a taco but that’s just the plate," joked one user.

"My dinner today was literally better," said another.

However, some people felt the meal was appropriate for the event.

"this is ... atrocious. however if im going to one of the most iconic nights in fashion, id probably eat nothing or very little/something light like in the pic," tweeted one user. "my self esteem couldnt handle me being bloated."

I think it's safe to say Keke gave us not only the gift of a stunning Met Gala look, but a peak inside the never-before-seen territory that is the Met MEAL!
