Dunkin’ Donuts Worker Reveals How Little Iced Coffee Actually Includes Coffee

For coffee drinkers, many of us have a standard routine every morning that includes allocating enough time to go to our local coffee shop to get our morning brew. Many of us opt for large cups of coffee to give us an extra boost during the day. And, many of us prefer iced coffee over hot coffee, and don't think twice about it.

However, when you think about it, iced coffee is more expensive than hot coffee.

If you look at local coffee shops, including Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts, iced coffees are oftentimes more expensive than hot coffee. However, at the end of the day, they give more in a large hot coffee than they do in a large iced coffee.

One would think the coffees would be equally priced.

A large iced coffee and a large hot coffee should be equal in price, if you think about it, because they both should be providing the same amount of coffee. However, it turns out one has more than the other. And, it's not what you would think it is.

To prove this point, I bring you a new, viral TikTok video.

TikTok user @jasonmora2 works at Dunkin' Donuts and decided to showcase just how much actual coffee is poured and given to customers when they order an iced coffee. The result is utterly surprising, given how much an iced coffee actually costs.

Jason poured the coffee in an iced coffee into an empty cup.

Large iced coffees require a ton of ice in the cup. Due to this, there is far less coffee poured into a large iced coffee cup than expected. When Jason poured the coffee into an empty cup, the cup was barely full.

The iced coffee cup is hardly even halfway full.

In fact, when the coffee is fully poured out of the large iced coffee cup, it's about 1/4 of the large iced coffee cup. Surprisingly, iced coffee is more expensive than hot coffee, which is truly full from the bottom to the top of the entire cup.

People online were a bit surprised by this discovery.

Some people online were a bit shocked to find out they were spending a ton of money to get very little coffee. And, many of them were thanking Jason for showing them the light when it comes to their Dunkin order.

Many, however, said they have ways around this.

Many online said that they go to Dunkin' and other shops and order "no ice" or even sometimes, light ice, to solve this issue. The cup that Jason had did have a ton of ice in it, and it takes up a vast majority of the cup.

Others said they avoid iced coffee for this reason.

TikTok users also said they don't order iced coffee from shops because of this exactly. It is a bit of a rip-off if you think about it, because in a large hot coffee cup, you get the entire volume of the cup.

However, one person made a sharp observation.

Some TikTok users pointed out that coffee shops usually brew iced coffee to be a bit stronger than their hot coffee, knowing that their volume is displaced by ice and knowing that it gets watered down.
