Dax Shepard And Kristen Bell Admit To Only Bathing Their Kids When They 'Stink'

When it comes to parenting, we all know how deeply personal our decisions can be. No one knows our kids like we do, and no one knows what's best for them like we do. So when I heard that certain celebrity parents were getting real about how often they bathed their children, it opened up a whole dialogue online.

Now, celeb parents Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are weighing in.

In case you missed it, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis rocked the internet last week with their honest takes on bathing their children.

While appearing on Dax Shepard's armchair podcast, Mila explained: "I didn’t have hot water growing up as a child so I didn’t shower very much anyway."

She and Ashton's children, Wyatt, 6, and Dimitri, 4. are only bathed when they look "dirty."

"I wasn’t that parent that bathed my newborns, ever," Mila said.

"If you can see the dirt on them, clean them," Ashton echoed. "Otherwise, there’s no point."

The pair also elaborated on their own hygiene routine.

"I don't wash my body with soap every day," Mila shared. "But I wash pits and [explective] and holes and soles."

Sorry, can we just take a moment for the way she described washing her "essential" bits?

PITS AND HOLES!

As for Ashton, he echoed his wife's bathing sentiments.

"I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever," he admitted. "I got a bar of Lever 2000 that just delivers every time. Nothing else."

At the time, Dax joked about how often he and his wife Kristen Bell bathe their children.

"We could care less about their cleanliness," he joked, explaining that their nightly baths were solely a part of their childrne's nighttime routine as babies. "We haven't washed them since. It's been like six years."

This hot take took the internet by storm, and now, Dax and his wife Kristen Bell are weighing in.

"We bathed our children every single night—prior to bed is like the routine," Dax further explained to the women of The View on Tuesday.

"And then somehow, they just started going to sleep on their own without the routine, and by George, we had to start saying, 'Hey, when's the last time you bathed them?'"

Kristen agreed, adding, "Yeah, we forget," to which Jax added, "Sometimes five, six days goes along. I mean, they don't smell."

"There's a red flag. Because honestly, it's just bacteria."

"And once you get the bacteria, you gotta be like, 'Get in the tub or the shower.' So I don't hate what they're doing. I wait for the stink."

In case anyone was wondering what ~science~ recommends, I did the hard research for you all.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology children ages 6-11 can be bathed once or twice a week unless they've gotten dirty after physical activity.

Well, look at that! You truly do learn something new every single day!

Kirsten was quick to shut this down, though.

Speaking of their daughters Lincoln, 8, and Delta, 6, the actress said: "Well, they do sometimes. I'm a big fan of waiting for the stink. Once you catch a whiff, that's biology's way of letting you know you need to clean it up."
