Being on an airplane is a common experience amongst many people. Realistically, most people have taken a few planes in their life to travel. However, not everyone has the same experiences on airplanes.
Being up in the air and stuck in the plane, a lot of things can happen. And, when they do, there are not many things you can do to cope with it.
From yelling matches with flight attendants to people who drink far too much, we've seen our fair share of stories that have stirred up different controversies surrounding passengers and attendants on airplanes.
Many times, it sparks a debate online amongst Internet users.
The video, which was shared earlier this week on TikTok, showcased a Frontier Airlines passenger being restrained to his chair with clear plastic wrap and tape by flight attendants.
The flight attendants also put tape over the passenger's mouth to stop him from screaming.
Maxwell Wilkinson Berry, the passenger who was restrained, had two alcoholic drinks and then spilled a third on himself.
He was then "wandering the cabin" without a shirt on, and groped two different female flight attendants inappropriately, CNN reported.
Reports indicate that another male flight attendant got involved, trying to get Berry to "remain in his seat" and calm down.
However, Berry responded by punching him in the face with "a close fist," reports indicated.
In the video, now deleted from TikTok, the crew used duct tape to restrain Berry in his seat until the flight landed. Berry can be heard in the video yelling at flight attendants.
The airline has now spoken out, supporting their crew for the decision they made in the air.
"Frontier Airlines maintains the utmost value, respect, concern and support for all of our flight attendants, including those who were assaulted on this flight.
We are supporting the needs of these team members and are working with law enforcement to fully support the prosecution of the passenger involved," said spokeswoman Jennifer de la Cruz said in a statement.
Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants, stated:
"A drunk and irate passenger verbally, physically and sexually assaulted multiple members of the crew. When he refused to comply after multiple attempts to de-escalate, the crew was forced to restrain the passenger with the tools available to them onboard."
Many people on TikTok were concerned by the way in which the crew had taped his mouth closed in order to prevent Berry from screaming.
Some on TikTok were concerned if he could "breathe well" with the tape over his mouth.
There were dozens of commenters, however, who sided with the crew and the airlines. Many pointed out that because he was assaulting the flight attendants and causing a scene in such a grotesque manner, he deserved this completely.
