Bridezilla Grandma Bleaches Flower Girl's Blue Hair Without Consulting Her Mom

When it comes to parenting, it's always best to use your own discretion when it comes to anything slightly controversial — letting your children pierce their ears young, letting your children pick out their own outfits, or, letting your children dye their hair fun colors.

Now, a mother is asking is she's in the wrong for pulling her daughter out of her own grandmother's wedding after her grandma bleached her hair.

A mom has taken to Reddit's infamous AITA page to ask if she's in the wrong for pulling her daughter out of her mother (her daughter's grandmother's) wedding after she bleached her hair.

"My mom is getting married at the end of July. My daughter (who is 11) was going to be her flower girl," the original poster (OP) explained.

After OP left her daughter with her mother one day, things took a huge turn for the family.

“While they were there my mom BLEACHED my daughter’s hair [with]out even asking me,” the woman wrote.

"We dye her hair semi regularly with Arctic Fox, which is safe for kids. About a week ago we dyed it a very pretty blue... My mom detests unnatural hair colors and has been hounding me to ‘fix it’ for the wedding,” she added.

"My daughter was fine with being a brunette for a little while when I asked. I was going to let her blue fade out naturally then put a dark brown over it a bit before the wedding."

However, it seems the bride was unable to wait to see how her granddaughter's hair would turn out, and simply took matters into her own hands.

"Obviously I’d NEVER bleach a child’s hair," OP wrote.

"But my mother in all her glory decided it was a perfect time to ‘fix’ her hair for me. This woman used to be a stylist (over a decade ago), but she should know better."

"I am furious. Her hair is SO DRY and damaged, and the blue isn’t even out," she explained.

Naturally, her daughter's hair looks way worse than before, and will take even longer to correct!

Because of this, OP has told her mother that she and her daughter will not be attending the wedding.

"I’ve been getting a lot of ‘she’s a control freak, it’s just how she is, it’s not a big deal, it’s just hair’ from almost everyone," she wrote, explaining that her family is telling her to just get over it.

"My daughter hates her hair and expected a pretty bleach blonde ‘like Bill[ie] Eilish,’” OP wrote, "which is what her grandma promised her, not a faded mess."

Thankfully, the people of Reddit had this mama's back and assured her she had every right to pull her daughter out of the wedding.
