Amber Heard Welcomes First Child Oonagh Paige: 'She's The Beginning Of The Rest Of My Life'

Congratulations are in order for actress Amber Heard, who recently announced that she'd welcomed her first child, daughter Oonagh Paige, via surrogate.

The 35-year-old took to Instagram Sunday night to share the exciting news with her followers in a heartfelt post that explained her journey.

Posting a sweet photo of the pair, Amber wrote:

"I’m so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms," she began.

"I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way."

"I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib."

She continued:

"A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this."

"My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She’s the beginning of the rest of my life," she concluded.

The comments were filled with well-wishes for the pair.

One of the well-wishers was Amber's *Aquaman* co-star, Jason Momoa.

The 41-year-old actor, who shares 13-year-old daughter Lola and 12-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf with wife Lisa Bonet commented "Congratulations," with a red heart.

Amber's *Magic Mike XXL* costar Andie MacDowell also sent her support, commenting: "Congratulations It's absolutely the best part of life."

According to a source close to the star, she and the baby are doing well.

"Page 'Oonagh' is absolutely gorgeous, and Amber is besotted," the source said.

"She always knew that she wanted to be a mom, and this is her greatest wish come true. She’s so grateful to the wonderful woman who helped bring Oonagh into her life."

"The most important thing for Amber is that she’s open about Oonagh’s birth," the source continued.

"There are so many women who feel they can’t talk about their fertility and are worried and embarrassed; Amber wants them to feel supported and realize that there are a multitude of ways to have a baby even if you have fertility issues."

As some may know, Amber is currently in a relationship with cinematographer Bianca Buttie — the pair have been together since January 2020.

However, the source told Page Six Amber made the decision to have a baby on her own a while ago and is "proud" to be Oonagh’s sole legal parent.

Her baby's name, Oonagh Paige, is also a tribute to Amber's late mother, Paige in May 2020.

She called her mom "the most beautiful woman I had ever known" in an Instagram post at the time, adding: "It’s hard to imagine and even more difficult to say but I feel truly lucky to have been her daughter and been given the gift of having the light she shone on everyone, fall on me for nearly 34 years."

It's clear this baby has been a longtime coming for the 35-year-old.

Her message of wanting a baby without wanting a ring is something I'm sure many women can relate to.

Congrats to Amber and baby Oonagh.
