People Are Pointing Out Common Traits They Find Unattractive In Others

Most of us have a checklist in mind when dreaming about our ideal partner.

Good sense of humor? Check. Kind heart? Check, check. Great cook? Sign us up!

Most of us can agree on what's not on the list. Self-absorbed, toxic, or judgemental people need not apply for our hearts.

For more ideas of what you don't want, people are sharing common traits that most of the general population finds unattractive in others.

"People being obsessed with their social media presence."

This trait comes with a lot of not-so-good behavior, such as always taking photos, being on their phones 24/7, and always trying to portray the perfect life.

"So, I'm to blame for your behavior? I'm to blame because you couldn't possibly be wrong or held accountable for your decisions?" - IronCorvus.

This trait isn't restricted to just ex-boyfriends. You could get gaslighted by your own family.

Purposely pushing someone's buttons.

People do this because a) they don't respect personal boundaries and 2) they think it's funny.

Then, the second you get upset, they try to gaslight you by saying, "fine, I won't joke anymore."

Chasing clout.

"People who do things for ‘clout’ and don’t actually care for being genuine until they need something from you." - Redditor dennaleia.

Sadly, we see this all the time with people video-taping themselves giving a homeless person money.

Self-absorbed behavior.

Sorry to break it to you Kardashian wannabes, but unless you have their money or followers, you're not in the same realm.

No one cares to watch what Bath & Body Works haul you did the other day.

Being in work mode 24/7.

"Everyone says they want their partner to be super career ambitious. Screw that, I say put in your 40 hours then chill. I want someone who knows how to relax." - Redditor 24520ls

Playing hard to get.

Games are for kids — let's leave it that way. A lot of men and women will play games to make the other person like them more. In the end, though, they're usually the ones who get played.

Being overconfident.

CBS

"Overconfidence is really nasty, because it usually means that they think everyone, including you, is beneath them and treat you accordingly. I have enough enemies who try to put me down to lift themselves up in my life to not date one of them." - Redditor Theystolemyname2

"Messiness and having poor hygiene."

Things like body odor and a messy bedroom are a huge turn-off to potential partners. They won't want to cuddle up with you when you smell like you've just run 20 laps and there's a rat under your bed.

Being overly jealous or possessive.

NBC

Jealousy ain't cute. If you're getting mad at your partner anytime they are nice to a barista or waitress, it's time to look internally at your behavior. Not theirs.

"Being rude to wait staff."

"It shows an utter lack of understanding/empathy to others, not caring that the staff are other people. It's often associated with the person thinking they're better than others... It's a complete turnoff for me, and would refuse to date someone like this." - Redditor Hananners

Being judgemental.

A person wants to feel free to do and act how they please without fear of being judged. The second the line crosses to that negative place, they won't feel free to be themselves around that person.

Toxic positivity.

"I need to be able to feel bad for a moment when I am dealing with something crappy. It helps me get through it. I dislike people pleasers too, be kind but don’t be a doormat." - Redditor deleted

Being materialistic.

It's not attractive when guys boast about their expensive watches and cars. Similarly, it wouldn't be fun to date a girl who only cares about buying endless purses and shoes instead of making actual memories.

Being on their phone 24/7.

"This [expletive] annoys me so much, I want to talk to someone while looking at them. When they are constantly on their phone it makes me feel like I am talking to myself and its awkward as [expletive]." - rocknrollhatesme

Alpha male mentality.

"Any time a dude calls himself an 'Alpha Male' I always think of Pinocchio when he says, 'I’m a real boy!'" - Redditor PissedOffMonk.

LOL. It's true, though. You can be manly without having to assert your manliness over everything.

If you're still doing this as an adult, it might be a good idea to go back to childhood and start over again.

NO ONE (and I mean NO ONE) wants to hear someone make that awful smacking noise when they eat.

Caked-on makeup.

"Really don't like the modern makeup and eyebrow trends with girls where they cake their faces and lips with these weird shades like the Kardashians where it looks completely fake, and then basically just paint on some absurd eyebrows that don't look remotely real or natural." - Redditor BreezyWrigley

Being super loud.

"Loudness in general. People who have the tv volume blasting very loudly, people who like to make phone calls with the loud tv in the background, people who talk loudly while someone else is on the phone, I just think loudness is a very unattractive quality." - Shadesmctuba
