8+ Smart Ideas Designed To Make The World A Greener Place

We all can make small changes that impact the environment in a big way. But it's even more important when businesses take this issue seriously.

As the mindset of consumers shifts towards more eco-friendly ideas, it's great to see companies follow suit. I'd like to share with you just a few of these impactful changes so we can collectively keep the momentum going.

1. This Parking Lot

Why use paint that can negatively impact the pavement when you can come up with a more eco-friendly solution? Not only is this better for the environment, but it's also so creative. I want to see this everywhere.

2. This Vacuum Packaging

It's good to see that the components for this vacuum were all packaged in paper instead of plastic. That's a step in the right direction. Don't you think so? All the vacuum companies should be doing this.

3. This Cooler

Did you know that you can now buy a cardboard cooler instead of a styrofoam cooler? These are fully biodegradable and so much better for the environment. But, if you do own a plastic one just continue reusing it as long as you can.

4. These Beer Cans

Carlsberg is proving that you don't need to use plastic to keep beer cans together. Instead, they just glue them. Wow, that's so simple yet reduces so much waste. I hope every beer company considers this.

5. This Bracelet

Remember when we used to go to events and get admission bracelets? I hope we get to go back to that again. And when we do, all bracelets should contain seeds to grow wildflowers afterward. What a brilliant idea, huh?

6. These Bananas

Who here loves banana bread? I'm obsessed, I'll have to admit. I think every grocery store should sell these overripe bananas for cheap, so they don't go to waste. This bag even includes a recipe for banana bread on the bag.

7. This Battery

I believe there is absolutely no excuse to make single-use batteries anymore. Not when you can create one that you can simply charge with a micro USB. I can't believe all battery companies haven't switched to this idea yet.

8. This KFC Packaging

Since Australia banned single-use plastic packaging, fast food companies had to get on board. In this case, KFC replaced plastic with paper packets and cardboard spoons. I say it's a step in the right direction, no?

9. This Sketchbook

This one goes out to all the computer nerds out there. How would you like to have a sketchbook made out of a recycled circuit board? Oh, wow. How cool is that? I'm not a geek, but I want one, ha, ha!

10. This Cup

Imgur

If you thought this cup looked just like plastic, you're not alone. However, it's actually made from plant starch, and it's 100% compostable. Oh my goodness, I want this to be implemented everywhere. Please, let's make this happen.

11. This Soap Refill Station

If you were able to refill your favorite soap or shampoo, would you? The Simon Fraser University in Canada has this refill station. I bet this is such a huge help for students, and it helps the environment, too.

12. This Pootastic Idea

Let me ask you a question. Would you buy a notebook made out of poo? Yes, you heard me right, I said poo. The Toronto Zoo sells these notebooks made out of panda and moose poo. OMG, ha, ha! That's not a crappy idea at all — pun intended.

13. This Confetti

This company created what they call "throw and grow confetti", and it does exactly what it sounds like. You throw it on the ground, and it will grow flowers. What a great idea, huh? I'm totally using this for my wedding.

14. This Ice Cream Cup

Instead of using plastic or styrofoam, some ice cream stores have begun serving scoops out of compostable cups made from banana leaves. I think this looks really cool — and yummy!

Isn't it so awesome to see companies big and small think outside the box to be more eco-friendly?

I say it's about time. We need to do everything we can to help our planet flourish to sustain us in the future.
