"Watkins Glenn is more than just a race track. There's some beautiful hiking in the park.

Also in "the area" is the Corning Museum of Glass, which is all about glass making history, fine art pieces, and glass science. They even do glass blowing demos that are mesmerizing and you can blow your own glass," said eurtoast

"Portland, Maine...certainly not obscure, but I went on a whim after going to a wedding in NY...it is absolutely beautiful.

Great food, nice people, beautiful water with islands that you can ferry around. For those of us in the West it is just not as well known," said suzanner99.

"I have been living by the four corners in New Mexico for the past couple years. Honestly it’s mind blowing how many ancient ruins, native culture, and incredible mountain beauty there is in a 1-2hr drive.

I found petroglyphs in the middle of the desert showing the story of the Navajo people, came across incredible sand dunes and canyons, and climbed the most otherworldly mountain peaks in the backcountry of the high Rockies," said another Reddit user.

California dreaming, but not just LA.

"Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park in California! They are side by side, so visiting each one is simple. I wouldn’t describe them as a “hidden gem” but they are definitely less traveled to then some of the bigger (more well known) National parks in California," shared a Reddit user.

Boulder, Colorado is excellent for a good vibe.

Instead of Denver, heading to Boulder, CO is a great way to catch some good vibes and people.

Reddit users call it the "hippie center" of the world and that you will fall in love with everything there the day you arrive. Sounds groovy!

Stay away from tourists but get the same kind of experience.

"Yachats on the Oregon Coast. Some nice beaches and a very good fish restaurant (Luna Sea Fish House). Some nice small shops, but not as touristy as Newport or Florence. Thor’s Well is pretty cool too and there is some nice hiking," shared cakeisreallygood.

Florida doesn't have to be just about Disney World.
