Queen Elizabeth Pays Tribute To Prince Philip For His 100th Birthday With Rarely-Seen Accessory

Queen Elizabeth is not lacking in the accessory department. She is the queen, after all. She is someone who has endless jewelry options — so many you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who has a bigger collection than she does.

So when HRH wore a rarely seen, sentimental brooch earlier this week, fans knew it was a tribute to her late husband.

Of course, when you think of royal accessories, you think of crowns and tiaras — that's kind of their whole thing.

And while Queen Elizabeth has no shortage of glittering hair accessories, she also has many pieces that are of significant value to her — either because they're sentimental, or family heirlooms.

Some pieces we see often, while others are kept tucked away for significant moments and milestones.

Recently, the Queen wore an accessory to honor her late husband that fans haven't seen in a long time.

As you may know, HRH Prince Philip would have turned 100-years-old on Thursday.

During a set of virtual meetings earlier this week, the Queen selected a piece from her collection that rarely makes a public appearance — a butterfly brooch that was given to her as a wedding present.

The brooch, which features a diamond-winged butterfly with ruby accents, was gifted to her by the Dowager Countess of Onslow when the then-princess married Prince Philip back in 1947.

While fans don't often see this piece, her choice to wear it this week during what would have been her late husband's 100th birthday seems fitting.

What a lovely way to remember the man who meant so much to her.

We're thinking of the Queen and her family.
