As fans of the royal family know, Princess Diana dawned a peach suit with ruffle detail when she left on her honeymoon with Prince Charles.

According to the *People*, Diana's pink ensemble was crafted by the designers at Bellville Sassoon, who almost didn't let the bride-to-be enter their store.

As the story goes, Diana visited the Bellville Sassoon shop in London shortly after she became engaged to Prince Charles. The then 19-year-old was looking for an outfit for her engagement photos right before the store closed.

The sales associate (seemingly not knowing who she was talking to) told Diana that Harrod's department store "is just around the corner" and directed the soon-to-be princess there.

Thankfully, Harrods worked out for Diana as she picked out her now-iconic blue suit for the photoshoot there. Way to go, department stores!

"You can imagine how Belinda [Bellville] and David [Sassoon] felt when they realized the future Princess of Wales had been turned away," said Royal Style curator Matthew Storey, as per People.

Since Diana was turned away so abruptly, Matthew noted that her eventual collaboration with Belville Sassoon "almost didn't happen."

Thankfully for them, the princess ventured back to the shop before her wedding. This time, she was welcomed with open arms and began a long partnership with the brand.

Belville Sasson designed the now-iconic peach honeymoon suit for Princess Diana, which is currently on display at the Royal Style exhibit.

Apparently, two versions of the look were created in preparation for any weather: one with short sleeves and one with longer sleeves.

Thankfully for Diana, the weather was lovely!

It's a beautiful outfit that almost never happened!
