HGTV's Erin Napier Shares Important Message About Formula Feeding

With breastfeeding on the rise in the United States, bottle-feeding has become a point of contention for millions of mothers.

Thankfully, the world has celebs aiming to change people's minds. Enter Erin Napier. The HGTV star recently shared a post about bottle-feeding her newborn daughter.

By doing so, she's helping break the stigma around formula feeding — "Fed is best!"

Breastfeeding isn't for everyone — just ask the celebs.

Many have gotten candid on this controversial subject, including Hilary Duff who recently welcomed her third child.

She shared on Instagram that she gave up on breastfeeding after six months of feeding her daughter, Banks. It was starting to impact her mentally.

"Pumping at work sucks," she wrote.

"I had zero downtime and am usually pumping in a hair and makeup trailer while four hands work to get me ready for the next scene with lots of other people around."

Another celeb who struggled with breastfeeding was Kristen Bell.

She shares two children with husband, Dax Shepard.

"I went from being an autonomous woman to essentially being a food truck," the always-hilarious actress said on the podcast, #Momsplaining.

"Because that's essentially what you are."

"Isn't it crazy how much of your nipple and your boob has to go in their mouth?" she said.

We can always count on her for honesty!

While lots of women want to breastfeed their children, it's impossible for some.

This was the case for Khloé Kardashian who shares three-year-old daughter, True, with basketball player, Tristan Thompson.

"It was really hard for me to stop (emotionally) but it wasn’t working for my body," she wrote on Twitter.

She tried everything to make it work, including water, special cookies, power pumping, and massages.

Sadly, nothing worked. When this happens, moms have to turn to bottle-feeding. This is when you nurse a baby with a bottle.

Oftentimes, it's filled with formula, which is an alternative to breastmilk.

Since a lot of women are shamed for having to bottle-feed their babies with formula, more people are speaking out about this.

The latest celeb to do so is HGTV star, Erin Napier.

She recently shared a post on Instagram of her bottle-feeding her newborn daughter, Mae, whom she shares with her husband and Home Town costar, Ben Napier.

“Just a little encouragement for you mamas who weren’t able to breastfeed, like me,” Napier began.

“Don’t let anyone make you feel less than or belittled because of it.”

She continued on, sharing that Mae's three-year-old sister, Helen, was also bottle-fed with formula. And she turned out just fine.

"Helen was a formula baby and has no allergies, has always been a healthy weight, no big sicknesses, slept through the night by 6 weeks, smart as a whip," she shared.

"And attached to her mama as her breastfed friends are to theirs," Erin continued. "Formula is our friend at this house!"

"Just watch as these little matchstick legs get chunky and strong," the 35-year-old mom added.

The HGTV star's post drew a lot of support.

"I’ve got 3 formula kids and they’re fine. One of them screams like a freakin pterodactyl but I’m sure it’s unrelated," one wrote.

Others shared their own stories of being judged and shamed for bottle-feeding.

"Finally I had to stop. Some people were supportive while others judged. We can only do what we can do and we should support and another."

Even a lactation consultant weighed in:

"I support ALL moms and help with whatever feeding method works best! Moms are all wonderful!" she wrote with a heart.

I mean, now that we have the consultant's opinion, we can't get better than that, right?

With very few negative comments, the overall consensus was this: "Fed is best."

"Thank you, this message is not shared nearly enough!!" wrote one. "I love you even more now 🥺 both of my babies were/are formula fed and are thriving!" commented another.
