Upcyclers Make A Splash With Quirky Bathtub Patio Furniture

It's always a shame to throw away good furniture just because you needed an upgrade. So instead of sending it off to the dump, why not try to upcycle it first?

Unwilling to part with their old bathtubs (or rescuing some from the street), DIYers have taken to upcycling the big basins into functional patio furniture!

Romanova makes her bathtub chair in an effort to "buy nothing new".

Throwing herself fully into the trend "unconsumption", Natalia Romanova tries to live by the motto of "buying nothing new".

Turning her old bathtub into a comfy garden chair, she titles the piece "Throne". A modern, slanted outdoor chair, Romanova completes the look by adding an exposed wood frame and a striking burnt-umber paint job.

In possession of their own old and unused bathtub, Instagrammer kazmic.iow's husband made her a beautiful teal bathtub bench for her garden, cutting out the side and adding enticing pillows and cushions to complete the look. He even kept the plumbing fixtures, a nice old to its former purpose.

Recline in your tub while watching the street from your front porch!

Filling up her front porch with unique home decor, Instagrammer mariko2804 reclines in half of a clawfoot tub, curling up in blankets, a big sweater, and the light of the morning sun.

Rub-a-dub-dub, patio drinks in the tub anyone?

Not wanting to let any part of the old tub go to waste, this DIYer made use of both ends and the middle. Adding a glass square to the center portion, the backyard is now all set for a full-on patio party.

What do you think, are you ready to slip into this trend?

Enjoying her own patio oasis, madamemonie bathes (quite literally) in the sun on her own bathtub bench, loving her unusual upcycle invention.

With hundreds of DIYers (and stores) getting in on the bathtub action, many people are over the moon over this splashing upcycle. But what are your thoughts on the DIY? Would you ever try it in your own backyard? Let us know in the comments below!
