Teacher Paints Hearing Devices On Dolls To Create An Inclusive Classroom

Teachers have the most difficult task of shaping young minds. It can't always be easy to address issues of inclusivity, especially when it comes to dealing with little kids.

That's why I was pleasantly surprised when I heard about this one teacher. She took it upon herself to make her students who use hearing aids feel included by doing something very special for them.

Check out this sweet story

California teacher Genesis Politron works with preschool and kindergarten students who are either deaf or hard of hearing. But she noticed that there were no dolls in stores that represented the kids she had in her classes.

So, she knew she had to do something about it.

She actually came up with a sweet idea to paint hearing devices on baby dolls for her kids to play with at school. Isn't that the nicest thing you've heard all day?

Genesis didn't want her students to feel left out.

That's why she painted the ears of the dolls with sparkly puffy paint. They either resemble a hearing air or a cochlear implant. And now, her kids can feel as if the dolls are just like them.

The motivation behind this sweet gesture was to empower all the young minds she gets to work with every day.

Kids need to know that we all come in different shapes and sizes, and many of us face our own unique challenges.

However, Genesis believes that children should never feel as if they aren’t ‘normal’ or that they don’t belong.

It's her job as an educator to make sure her students feel appreciated, included and accepted. Aww, that's amazing to hear.

After Genesis posted her awesome idea on Twitter, her tweet quickly went viral.

Many people praised this bright teacher for doing something so special for her students. They also wished there were more amazing teachers like Genesis to go around.

This might be a small gesture, but it can make a huge impact on a young person's life.

Case in point here, this Twitter user related the story to her own experience when she received a doll with a hearing aid when she was a child.

Something as simple as this can inspire other people to act.

How sweet that this person wants to do something similar for their family members, huh? It's true what they say that acts of kindness can have a positive effect on everyone.

How inspiring was this story, huh?

I think it's great to know that there are teachers out there willing to go beyond the scope of their job. It's a tough world out there for kids with special needs, and they need all the positivity from the start.
