Fans Learn The Medical Reason Behind Matthew Perry's Slurred Speech During 'Friends' Reunion

As you've most likely heard by now, the Friends cast recently got together to film a major reunion that aired on HBO Max this past Thursday. Eager fans of the classic '90s sitcom have been waiting for this reunion and now that they have it, they can't stop talking about Matthew Perry's seemingly slurred speech.

Now, fans are getting answers.

Last week, fans got to see the first full-length trailer for the reunion special.

As you may recall, everyone seemed to be focusing on Matthew Perry's appearance and slurred speech in the brief clips.

In one part of the trailer, Matthew can be heard saying, "I stole the cookie jar that had the clock on it," with some fans thinking the word "stole" had a "sh" sound to it.

Social media was quickly filled with comments of concern from fans.

Now, fans are learning the medical reason behind why Matthew was seemingly slurring his words.

"Matthew turned up at the reunion and members of his team said he had an emergency tooth procedure that day," a source told The Sun.

"This was said to impact his wellbeing and also how he was feeling."

"Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened," the source continued.

"The feeling was one of huge sympathy for Matthew, especially in recent days, given how people reacted online."

"Matthew has told those around him that he is sober, and there is no need to worry," they added.

We're happy to hear Matthew is doing better! Have you watched the Friends reunion yet? Let us know in the comments below!
