Woman Shares Clever Hack To Add Height To Furniture Using Toy Bricks

Living in a small space isn't always easy, especially when it comes to furniture. One woman felt that the furniture in her small studio apartment was feeling too short for her liking. Rather than buying new furniture or just resigning to awkward furniture, she used clear building blocks to save the day. We've got all of the details.

One little apartment needed some big changes to the short furniture.

It all began when Anju Abraham found herself in a 400-square-foot apartment with a short coffee table among other items lacking a comfortable height. She decided it was time to fix the problem. After all, a small space shouldn’t mean short furniture.

Abraham decided to make her own furniture customizations.

Abraham decided to buy a massive bag of 1,000 clear Lego-like building pieces for only $30 on Amazon. She was able to come up with a solution that is both stylish and affordable. It can also be pretty fun for any Lego fans out there.

The idea is to have the Lego-like pieces hold up the table.

This style of table should be able to smoothly slide between the fitted gaps of the Lego-like pieces. The pieces should stack together to develop ample support for the table while taking it to new heights.

It's important to build a strong base.

Just like with classic Legos, this DIY project requires the toy bricks to create a strong foundation to build upon. If the foundation isn't strong, it won't be able to hold up the table. This could result in them falling apart and possibly damaging the table.

This project entails lots of building and gluing.

The building process to Abraham about an hour to complete. For extra stability, she carefully glued each piece together and ensured that the table could slide in easily.

It reminded Abraham of childhood.

As adults, most of us don't find the time or interest in playing with toys or even doing some of the art projects we did as kids. Sometimes adulthood can seem a bit bland compared to our childhood days, but every now and then, a project like this ignites our creativity all over again.

The pieces added three inches to her table.

Almost like a new pair of heels, these Lego-like pieces gave Abraham's table some much-needed height — three inches to be exact. We imagine it must be a lot easier to reach her morning coffee now.

The clear pieces look like they're bedazzled.

For her decor, the brick pieces mesh to look like gorgeous bedazzled pieces made to decorate her table. They don't look like Legos or blocks — they just look like a chic style!

There are alternatives for anyone not feeling this look.

Just like with most things furniture, one style doesn't always work for everyone. For those not feeling this look, Abraham suggests that people try adding wheels, bed risers or even using rolling planters as a base.

There is a range of options for everyone’s needs and decor style. Abraham is sure not to sell anyone short when it comes to her DIY ideas.
