11-Year-Old Girl Fights Off Would-Be Abductor In Tense Video

A terrifying situation played out on a surveillance feed earlier this month in Florida, one that could easily have been much worse if not for the swift and ferocious actions of a pre-teen.

An 11-year-old girl was minding her business at a bus stop when a man jumped out of a car and tried to abduct her.

Fortunately, she was able to escape.

Alyssa was at the bus stop when it went down.

You can see her on the grassy median here. The white van on the right pulled in and drove down the street, disappearing from camera.

Alyssa paid the van no mind — she was busy making homemade 'slime', according to NBC News.

The van came back.

After nearly a minute, the van drove back up the street and a man jumped out, immediately running directly at Alyssa.

It took the girl a moment to realize what was happening.

Unfortunately, that moment turned out to be important as the incident that followed elapsed in just over 10 seconds.

Alyssa got up to run away, but he was already in full sprint by the time she did so he caught up to her quickly and grabbed her.

She said he was holding a knife.

Despite this, she did not stop struggling as he tried to wrestle her back to the vehicle.

Nonetheless, the assailant was able to gain a foothold in the situation soon after she dropped her stuff.

He wrapped her up in a bear hug and headed back for the car.

For a couple of steps, it looked like the abduction would be successful.

Fortunately, Alyssa fought back. It might have been the slippery nature of the 'slime', but the man soon lost his grip.

He dropped her and ran back to his vehicle.

Both the assailant and Alyssa ran away, and the assailant drove off. However, as NBC News reported, she smeared some of her slime on the assailant, the better to allow police to identify the suspect later.

"I knew that that might be better evidence if the cops do find him," she told NBC News.

Police credited her with preventing her abduction, saying "She fought, and she never gave up."

A suspect, Jared Paul Stanga, was arrested shortly after and charged with attempted kidnapping of a child and aggravated assault and battery.
