Matthew Perry Trends On Twitter After 'Friends' Reunion Trailer Drops: 'Be Respectful'

As you've most likely heard by now, the Friends cast recently got together to film a major reunion that will air at the end of the month. Eager fans of the classic '90s sitcom have been waiting eagerly for a trailer and now that they have it, they can't stop talking about Matthew Perry's appearance.

I know, right? So rude!

It's hard to believe it's been 17 years since *Friends* went off the air.

However, the show's dedicated fanbase always kept the show relevant. Their dedication to Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross, and Joey has lasted well over 20 years.

Now, fans of the franchise are getting the special they have been begging for.

In the new trailer for the reunion, airing on HBO Max on May 27, fans got a first look at the sensational six's first time together on film in over 17 years.

While the reunion is not the reboot many fans were hoping for, at least it's *something.*

The official trailer shows the cast getting back together on the original Friends studio to test their Friends trivia knowledge, revisit important sets and re-read some of their most memorable lines!

In addition to all this fun, the cast will sit-down for a joint interview with James Corden in front of a live audience.

Of course, fans have a lot of feelings about this addition, and a lot of them aren't positive.

Despite the naysayers, many fans are eagerly awaiting for the reunion special and took to social media to express their excitement.

The '90s are truly making a resurgence in every way possible — the clothing, the shoes, the low-rise jeans, the shoulder bags and now... FRIENDS!

However, many people couldn't help but focus on Matthew Perry's appearance.

"Man. I just watched some clips from the Friends reunion, and everyone looks great . . . except Matthew Perry, aka Chandler," tweeted one user. "He looks and sounds like they carried him out of an alley and propped him up. Just lifeless and slurring a bit. I'm worried for the guy."

As fans know, the actor has struggled with substance abuse in the past.

"From an outsider's perspective, it would seem like I had it all," Matthew revealed back in 2013.

"It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism."

"I was never high at work," he added.

"I was painfully, painfully hung over. Then eventually things got so bad I couldn't hide it, and then everybody knew."

"I don't remember three years of it [Friends]," he later admitted in a BBC interview. "I was a little out of it at the time — somewhere between seasons three and six."

In more recent years, the actor has been open about his journey to recovery.

Now, fans are defending the actor on social media against the trolls who are choosing to focus on his appearance.

"It's really disheartening whenever *Friends* is brought up and people feel the need to talk[expletive] about Matthew Perry's appearance," tweeted one empathetic fan.

"He's struggled with addiction and been through so much but y'all are so concerned about his looks when you should just be grateful he's still alive," they added.

"I can't wait but wish was more of a reunion show similar to the Fresh Prince & it was just so nice to see Matthew Perry look so healthy," echoed another fan.
