DIYer Uses Abandoned Furniture To Create A 'Blooming Table' With Live Plants

What's a girl to do when she wants a blooming table, but doesn't have the budget for one?

She DIYs it, of course! TikTok user and DIY-er Annika Marie, aka @blondesigns, decided to DIY her way to a table chock full of plants, and the results are to die for. Grab your gardening shears and let's get DIY-ing!

In case you don't know what a blooming table is, here she is in all her glory:

Created by BloomingTables, these living furniture pieces are both good for the environment and stylish as heck.

However, they're on the pricey side — a side table starts at $249, and it doesn't come with the plants.

Annika decided to DIY her own.

Like all good DIYers, she saw an opportunity to make something beautiful out of something pretty ugly. She found this table for free on the side of the road and got to work.

Then, she stumbled upon this great material at Home Depot.

"I went to Home Depot and found this kind of mesh metal material. I’m using this because it’s sturdy enough to hold up the plants, but it’s also really moldable and allows for drainage," she said.

Please make sure you do this with a cat's help.

"I just cut out the shape I needed, placed it on the bottom, and attached it with screws."

Her helper looks like he's doing a really great job. I give him full marks.

She opted to paint part of the table.

I'm a huge fan of doing whatever you want to your own furniture, so I love this decision.

"I love the terracotta color of the table, but I decided to do the details in this lighter color to brighten it up a little bit."

The next step was getting some supplies for the glass part of the table.

Annika needed some supplies to keep the glass propped up high enough to accommodate the plants, so she picked up some wooden furniture legs and some rubber stoppers.

Next up: rocks.

"I put some gravel at the bottom to prevent soil from falling through and also to allow for drainage."

Those rocks are going to make her life so much easier when it comes to cleaning under the table.

Voilá!

Isn't this cute as hell? She painted the table legs green to help them blend in, which was totally the right choice. Now she has a stunning table that is alive with color!
