Bridezilla Demands All Bridesmaids Wear Size 8 Dresses And Pay Her $500

No matter what your intentions are going into it, it's very hard not to plan a wedding without it turning into an expensive, stressful affair. And since that amount of pressure can make even the mild-mannered snap at each other, it can often make those who couldn't be described that way at the best of times seem completely unrecognizable.

Add this pressure to an event that many people build up in their heads since childhood and you've got a likely explanation for the phenomenon known as the bridezilla.

Although this name often describes behavior that only those closest to the wedding plans will see, some brides who could be described this way show warning signs that their weddings will be a rough ride for everyone involved as early as the invitations.

That was certainly the case in the story we'll be going over today and it's why one would-be bridesmaid decided to check out of the wedding party.

On May 18, Reddit user junebugg85 shared a lengthy text she had received from the bride to the site's r/ChoosingBeggars community.

And in what seems like a very telling sign that things are about to go awry, most of this message is dedicated to a list of demands.

Granted, some of them are arguably reasonable and are the result of the couple's right to decide their wedding's guest list.

For instance, the bride asked that none of the guests bring their children and even addresses the exception of the flower girl with the assurance that her parents will take her home once her duties are fulfilled.

Many of her other requests, however, seemed focused on micromanaging the appearances of her bridesmaids.

These included short and uncolored nails, a blanket ban on fake tans, and a requirement that her bridesmaids' hair be shoulder length and straightened. This carried the explicit expectation that bridesmaids with short hair wear extensions.

But while we could make the case that these demands are starting to move into bridezilla territory, that wasn't the dealbreaker for junebugg85.

Instead, that came from the revelation that the bride had already handpicked the bridesmaids' dresses and they're all in size 8.

As she wrote in her text, "So if you're not a size 8 I recommend hitting the gym. No offense to anyone but I have had this planned since I was in diapers and want it perfect."

It's worth noting that the wedding is supposed to take place in December.

That means those willing to meet this requirement would potentially need to make some major changes to their body on fairly short notice.

As if that weren't already a big ask, the bride also demanded $500 from each member of her wedding party to pay for her honeymoon in Hawaii.

In her message, she specifically mentioned she would be sending Venmo and Cashapp links to those who hadn't already paid this "donation."

If this all sounds like a cue to send your "regrets," junebugg85 is right there with you.

As she put it, "I've officially dropped out of the bridal party. I'm a size 12 with no plans on dropping to a size 8 by December."

And considering what a tall order it is to be eligible for this wedding party, I can't say I'd be surprised if she was the only to do so.

Unless this bride's idea of a perfect wedding is one with a sparsely populated wedding party, her chances of getting the one she envisioned don't seem all that great.
