We are very excited to see what he will bring differently to the role!

There have been a lot of jokers over the years.

We've had Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill, Heath Ledger, Zach Galifinakis, Jared Leto and now, we have the legendary Joaquin Phoenix taking on the role.

Which means we've had a lot of different joker laughs.

From cackles to high pitched squeaks (looking at you, Jared) we've heard the Clown Prince of Crime crack up all kinds of ways.

How is Joaquin going to make his special?

DC

Well, apparently he based it on mental patients with a disorder called "PLC (Pathological Laughter or Crying)", where they cry or laugh without a trigger.

He said...

To Italian Magazine Il Vernerdi:

“I saw videos showing people suffering from pathological laughter, a mental illness that makes mimicry uncontrollable,”

And then he mimicked those people for his Joker laugh. That's terrifying, sad and interesting all at once.
