10+ Celebrities Who Had Children After 50

They say all good things come to those who wait. In this case, it's children after the age of 50.

While this may seem crazy to some, many older celebs have expressed being glad they were blessed with children so late in life.

Whether they planned for it, had a surprise pregnancy, or adopted, here are 10+ celebs who had children after 50.

1. John Stamos

Uncle Jessie became daddy in 2018 when he welcomed his first child, Billy, at the age of 54.

“I thought it was beyond me to have a kid and a great wife, but it’s given me a reason to live," he told People. "Life is in session now.”

2. Alec Baldwin

While he had his eldest daughter, Ireland, before the age of 50, the kid train wasn't over.

Since meeting wife, Hilaria, they've gone on to have six children together: Edu, Romeo Alejandro David, Leonardo Ángel Charles, Rafael Thomas, Carmen Gabriela, and newborn María Lucía Victoria.

3. Diane Keaton

She adopted her first child, Dexter, a daughter, at the age of 50. Then, she adopted a son, Duke, a few years later.

Adoption has been good for the star, as she's called it “the most completely humbling experience that I’ve ever had."

4. Mick Jagger

The Rolling Stone singing legend welcomed his eighth child at the age of 73.

The seven other children in his blended family are all of varying ages. There's the oldest James, Gabriel, Lucia, Karis, Jade, Elizabeth, and Georgia.

5. George Clooney

People never thought the serial bachelor would ever get married, let alone have kids.

The actor surprised the world with both when he married Amal Clooney and welcomed twins, Alexander and Ella, when he was 56.

6. Roonie Wood

Jagger isn't the only Rolling Stones legend to have kids late in life. He welcomed twin girls two days before he turned 69 with his wife, Sally Humpries.

The girls join the four adult children he has from previous relationships.

7. Steve Martin

While he played a father so well in Father of the Bride and Cheaper by the Dozen, he didn't become a dad in real life until he was 67.

This was with his wife, Anne, who's significantly younger than him.

Being a father late in life didn't scare the comedian.

"Oh, it’s fantastic—you have all the time in the world," he told Australia's Daily Telegraph.

"You’re all set and secure in life, and you’re not building your career, so you have a lot of time."

8. Michael Douglas

Since there's a 25-year age gap between the actor and his wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, Douglas was bound to have a child after 50.

They had their son, Dylan, four months before their November 2000 wedding.

Three years later, they welcomed their daughter, Carys, when Douglas was 58.

"I never anticipated starting a family at my age," he told The Guardian. "I'm genuinely happy to let Catherine work, while I stay at home with the children. I cherish this time."

9. Robert De Niro

The Taxi Driver star is a doting father to six children.

He had his youngest, Helen, via surrogate when he was 68 and his ex-wife, Grace Hightower, was 56. To put that into perspective, his eldest daughter, Drena, was 40 at the time.

10. Rod Stewart

The rocker had eight kids with five different mothers.

Since he had his son, Aiden, at the age of 66, and his daughter Kimberly had a baby six months later, Aiden became quite the young uncle.

11. Hugh Grant

While he now has five kids in total and a few different baby mamas, he welcomed his first child at 51.

"It was the nicest thing that's ever happened to me," he told People TV’s Jess Cagle about having kids. "But it happens to be true."

12. Bruce Willis

Back when the Die Hard actor was married to Demi Moore, they had three daughters together.

But he wasn't done with kids quite yet. After he fell in love with his wife, Emma Heming, they had two children.

Their oldest, Mabel, was born in 2012 when he was 57.

Two years later, they welcomed their second girl, Evelyn, in 2014.

"Being a father at this point in my life is great," he told the Mirror UK. "I feel like I have the same amount of love I used to have, if not more."

13. Madonna

The "Material Girls" singer adopted two girls from Malawi when she was 58.

The girls joined her other children, David, Mercy James. This in addition to her biological children, Lourdes and Rocco.

The 68-year-old actor never thought he'd have kids until he met his wife, Emilie Livingston, who's 30 years his junior.

Together, they have two young sons, Charlie and River. The star has expressed being happy that he waited.

"I’m glad I waited," Jeff told *People* in 2018.

"It feels great to do it right now, because all the things I'm considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to," he said.
