10+ Celebrities Who Opened Up About Their Phobias

Whether you're an A-list celebrity or just your average every day Joe — everyone is afraid of something. And while no fear is ever unjustified, there are some that are certainly more rational than others.

To give you a better idea of what I'm talking about, I've compiled 10+ celebrities who've admitted their phobias publically. Have a look and see how your own mettle compares to that of Hollywood's brightest stars.

Liam Payne - Spoons

The former One Direction heartthrob has a very strong fear of cutlery, more specifically — spoons.

Liam says he's fine with his own but prefers not to use someone else's spoon while visiting friends or out at dinner.

Christina Ricci - Houseplants

I can totally relate, Christina. There's a Monstera plant growing in the hallway that I swear is inching its way closer to my bedroom in order to gobble me up in the night.

Christina's fear is much more pragmatic. Supposedly, she isn't a fan of the dirt.

Scarlett Johansson - Birds

According to Scarlett, a healthy fear of birds runs in her family. During an interview with New York Magazine, Scarlett said "I’m only scared of birds. Something about wings and beaks and the flapping. I’m terrified of them."

Martin Freeman - Choking

A fear of choking sounds pretty run-of-the-mill as far as phobias go. But in the case of Martin Freeman, his phobia is incredibly inconsistent.

Martin is only afraid of choking while eating an avocado. It's never happened before, but he's still afraid that it might.

Kristen Stewart - Horses

Sure, horses may look like majestic animals but don't forget that they can kill you with a single well-placed kick!

When Kristen was 9, she was thrown from a horse and badly dislocated her elbow. She hasn't been anxious to get back on since.

Billy Bob Thornton - Antique Furniture

During an interview with The New York Times, Billy Bob explained:

"It’s that French/English/Scottish old mildewy stuff. Old dusty heavy drapes and big tables with lions’ heads carved in it. Stuff that kings were around. That’s the stuff I can’t be around."

Megan Fox - Paper

If you ever get Megan for Secret Santa, make sure to never buy her a book.

Megan can't stand dry pages from a novel or newspaper; anything that requires her to lick her fingers in order to turn the page.

Nicole Kidman - Butterflies

Nicole's fear of butterflies and moths goes back to her childhood. She recalls coming back to her house and seeing the large insects hanging off her front door.

Whenever this would happen, Nicole would hope the fence and climb around to the back door.

Jennifer Aniston - Being Underwater

Jennifer is fine as long as she isn't pushed past her neckline. But once her head is submerged — all bets are off.

When she was just a young girl, Jenn fell into her family pool and nearly drowned. I wonder if that could be where she gets it?

Tyra Banks - Dolphins

Up until now, I'd never come across anyone who was afraid of dolphins, but Tyra swears she can't stand them.

Supposedly, she used to have nightmares about being in a pool and having dolphins bump into her legs.

Kevin Hart - Wild Animals

Kevin Hart is actually afraid of everything. Over the course of this 14-minute clip, he comes close to passing out at least three different times.

Make sure to watch as Kevin calls over Robert Irwin's falcon — it's one of the funniest pieces of comedy he's ever created.

Sarah Paulson - Bees

Sarah got down to brass tactics during an appearance on The Ellen Show. She said that she's so afraid of bees that seeing a swarm would cause her to drop a newborn baby.

Her metaphor, not mine.

Khloé Kardashian - Belly Buttons

Khloé Kardashian wants nothing to do with your belly button and she most assuredly doesn't want you coming anywhere near her own.

The reality TV star/social media influencer told People that she screams in the shower every time she washes her mid-section.

Kyra Sedgwick - Talking Food

For example, those old TV commercials/cartoons where you see two hamburgers talking to one another; Kyra can't stand it.

Her husband Kevin Bacon once admitted that he toyed with the idea of dressing up as the giant peanut M&M but feared that she'd leave him if he did.

Kendall Jenner - Tiny Holes

Kendall Jenner has what's known as trypophobia: a fear of irregular patterns/small holes.

She's admitted that things like pancakes, honeycombs, and lotus heads are all examples of triggers that have been known to set her off.
