There's no denying the term "cancel culture" is a buzz phrase in 2021. Everyone has their own opinions about what cancel culture has done to well, the culture. While I don't think cancel culture is always the solution, I think we, as a society, need accountability culture.
Now, actress Sharon Stone is letting fans know how she feels about the trend.
It often occurs after something problematic is resurfaced or said by a celebrity or influencer.
While many times these situations come as an opportunity for education and an apology, others are quick to get angry that the behavior was called out at all.
When I say these things were "canceled" I mean the executives that represent these brands felt the books, or characters, didn't align with their direction in 2021.
While chatting on Jenny Hutt’s SiriusXM show, “Just Jenny” the 63-year-old didn't hold back when asked about cancel culture.
"I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen," she said.
"We all come from different ages, different cultures, different backgrounds, different things, and have had different experiences, different traumas, different upbringings, different parents, different religious backgrounds, different everything."
"The world is bigger. People have done so much more than one sentence. Like grow up. Grow some empathy," she concluded.
