Man Finds Shrimp Tails In Cinnamon Toast Crunch But Company Says It's Just 'Sugar'

When many of us think of horror stories, we imagine tales of zombies and vampires; ghosts and monsters.

Few people, however, think of finding shrimp tails in their Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal boxes.

But believe it or not, that's exactly what became one popular comedian's personal nightmare. Or at least, that's what he claims. The cereal company isn't so sure.

It started as an ordinary day.

Comedian Jensen Karp was just going about his day as usual when something horrific and stomach-churning happened. After enjoying a nice bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, he was stunned to find more than cereal in his box.

According to his now-viral tweet, there was a piece of string, mysterious black bits baked into the cereal pieces, and most shockingly of all, shrimp tails.

This was one scary situation.

After Karp tweeted about his disgusting discovery and received over 130,000 likes on that tweet, General Mills caught wind of the situation and replied to find out more about the situation.

However, after more details were shared, the company once again tweeted at Karp to let him know their team had determined the "shrimp tails" were not shrimp tails at all, but were in fact "an accumulation of the cinnamon sugar."

No one was buying it, least of all Karp who still had the evidence in front of him.

He even returned to that same box of CT Crunch and revealed on Twitter that he found even more foreign objects in the cereal, including what appears to be a string of dental floss.

Although the company has privately reached out to Karp send him a replacement box and even some gift vouchers, Twitter has had a field day with these bizarre discoveries.

For some, this was no laughing matter.

"This man could get really sick, and this is your response to the customers and the disregard for public health," one Twitter user wrote. "You should have a recall of the product. Geez, never buying General Mills products again. This entire story makes me want to vomit!"

Others pointed out that shrimp, whether full or simply just the tails, are allergens, which can be incredibly unsafe for someone to eat if they're allergic.

For others, the situation was so unbelievable that it sparked a flurry of viral memes.

"Started my new job today as social media manager for cinnamon toast crunch," one person wrote. "Time to take a big sip of coffee and log on."

Another added, "That was the string the factory worker tied around his finger to remember not to put shrimp tails in the cereal."
