Lego-Like Bricks Make It Easy To Create Your Own Raised Garden

One thing I've promised myself to do this spring is to create a backyard garden. Yes, I said it out loud, so I must do it now, right? Ha, ha! I do, however, find a project like this intimidating.

How will I do it, especially since we have some tree roots? Then, it dawned on me. I can make a raised garden bed. Aha! And they're easier to make than I thought. Let me show you how.

So how do people make these raised garden beds, you ask?

It's quite simple, really. As it turns out, you only need a few items from the hardware store and some basic tools. Who knew? I'm excited to share the details with you.

Forget about getting those basic raised garden kits.

They're more expensive than this version. You just need to get four lengths of suitable lumber and at least four Oldcastle planter wall blocks. They're like Lego bricks that will fit everything nicely. You can get everything from your local hardware store.

This version will cost you no more than $50!

Not too shabby, huh? Then you will need some good soil and, of course, seeds to plant whatever you want. You don't even need any power tools as the hardware store can cut the wood for you.

Now, let's move on to the assembly of this raised garden bed.

Pick a sunny spot in your backyard and preferably a leveled ground. That way, you will have even watering and proper drainage. Then, place your blocks at pre-measured intervals to create the bed shape.

After that, just slot the wood inside the blocks. OMG, wow! How cool is that?

Then use a rubber mallet to tighten everything up. Additionally, you can put a layer of cardboard or a tarp on the bottom of the bed. It will deter weeds from growing into your soil.

Now fill the garden bed with soil, and voilà! You're almost done.

Here comes the fun part — you get to plant. I'm thinking of putting tomatoes, basil, kale, Swiss chard, green onions, and cilantro in my garden this year.

Does that sound exciting to you or what?

I can't wait. What do you want to plant in your garden? I never realized that making a raised garden like this could be so easy. It's especially so because of these Lego-like bricks that hold everything together.

You can create your garden bed in any shape you want.

Keep in mind that you will need to get to the middle to prune and pick the plants. So perhaps a U-shape might be best or just a smaller rectangle.

So what do you think of this idea?

Did you know about these Lego-like planter wall blocks? I'm so thrilled I discovered such an easy way to create an outdoor garden. I'm literally jumping for joy thinking about making it this spring.
