54-Year-Old Woman Who Gave Birth To A Baby Girl Speaks Out To End Judgement Against Older Moms

When most people think of a pregnant woman, they typically imagine somebody under the age of 40. Some people even criticize those who choose to have a baby at an older age.

That doesn't seem to faze this new mom who recently gave birth at the age of 54. She opened up about her experience to show the world that age doesn't matter when it comes to being a mom.

However, in February 2021 at the age of 54, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. That's something that most people would find quite shocking.

This little girl is the first child for Aronson and her husband.

It was actually a surprise pregnancy. Their daughter, Aliya Dream, was born on February 12, 2021. It is the kind of story you don't hear about every day, huh?

Aronson wanted to share her story because of the stigma older women face when they become pregnant.

She doesn't think that in this day and age, this is the appropriate reaction women like her should receive. Do you agree with her?

After all, it should be up to the prospective parents to choose whether they want to have a child and the timing of it.

In Aronson's case, it was a surprise pregnancy, however, she still wants to make this important point.

Aronson doesn't really want people to be too quick to judge anyone who chooses to have a baby later in life.

These days many women opt to work on their careers first, and then they start thinking about having a family.

Did you know that the average age of a woman having her first child in the U.S. is 27-years-old?

The last time Aronson gave birth was when she was 40. So having a baby at the age of 54 was definitely a whole other ball game.

How did Aronson do this time around?

She credits being physically healthy from the get-go as the key to handling this pregnancy well. So that's probably what you should keep in mind if you plan on postponing having children to a later time.

She was also happy to be able to have access to new technology.

When she had her other children, she wasn't able to see 3D ultrasound images as she did this time around. That must've been an interesting aspect for her to experience with this pregnancy.

One of the challenges the Aronson family experienced this time around was going through a pregnancy during a pandemic.

I've heard from other moms-to-be that this aspect was something hard to get used to for them. I bet it must've been pretty tough.

Some ladies I've spoken to had to have their ultrasound appointments on their own.

That must've been a little bit sad not to be able to have your husband with you for such an important occasion — and even tougher for first-time moms.

These are the type of pregnancy milestones that every mom wants to share with her partner.

My heart goes out to any lady out there who had to go through such a difficult situation. Women are so resilient, huh?

Then once you have the baby, the isolation alone can add to the stress of postpartum.

This family seems to be dealing with the birth of their new baby just fine. I wish them all the luck in raising this little one.

Overall, Aronson believes that it's time to stop judging older moms.

"There are some people who criticize people for having children older in life and I don’t think in today’s world that is as applicable as it used to be," Aronson said in an interview.

What do you think about women who have babies at an older age?

This blended family is enjoying their time with the new baby. I think it's so wonderful to hear success stories like these to give other women the encouragement they may need to conceive later in life.
