Sad Cat Caught Weeping On Security Cam After Owner Leaves For Holiday

As much as our pets are family members, it's not always practical to take them absolutely everywhere with us, even though we might want to. Sure, some pets might travel well and behave themselves in the car, for example, but others can be downright dangerous.

Of course, that doesn't always make it easy to leave our furry friends behind. We miss them! And if there was any doubt that they missed us as well, this video ought to dispel that thought.

That weepy-looking feline, eyes appearing to brim with tears, is named Fu Fu.

Fu Fu's owner, Ms. Meng, decided to take a short getaway from her home in Xuzhou, China, to visit her parents for the Lunar New Year.

But as she told the Daily Mail she figured that because Fu Fu is such a shy cat, he would likely have a hard time adapting to her parents' house and would be better off staying home, with plenty of food and water left out.

But that didn't mean she wasn't going to be checking in on him.

And when she did, calling out to him through a surveillance app tied to a home security camera, she was greeted by Fu Fu's adorable little face, just about to overflow with tears.

As she spoke, Fu Fu mewed back and started pawing the camera, as if trying to find her.

Ms. Meng recorded the interaction and posted it online.

The 17-second video posted to Douyin — which is China's answer to TikTok — has received millions of views, and Fu Fu has become a minor celebrity, now known online as "left-behind cat."

And while some have expressed concern about her crying cat, as tears can indicate problems in cats like blocked tear ducts or eye infections, Ms. Meng insists he's just that kind of cat and he even tears up when he's hungry.

Needless to say, Ms. Meng did not see her vacation through to the end.

After seeing how much her little companion missed her, she cut her trip short.

"I felt heartbroken when I saw this," she told the Daily Mail. "I had planned to stay at my parents' home for a week, but we all returned to Xuzhou early."

She got a video of Fu Fu's reaction when she got home, too.

And it's exactly the reunion you'd expect from such a dramatic little cat as he jumps up when he hears his name, starts out at a slow trot, and breaks into a full run after realizing his owner is really home.
