Nicki Minaj And Cardi B Are Fighting — Again

Water is wet, the sky is blue, and Cardi B and Nicki Minaj hate each other.

The current two biggest female rappers have thrown down with each other verbally, and even once physically (a shoe was involved, but we'll get into that). Now, they're back to snapping at each other publicly.

It's not pretty, but it is entertaining.

Nicki and Cardi have been at odds since 2017.

Unbelievably, their entire beef started because of one single social media comment from a fan that Nicki took the time to add her seal of approval to.

The comment itself was pretty vague.

Nicki let her dislike of Cardi be known by allegedly liking a comment reading, "dumb [expletive] bars," seemingly insulting a 1-minute track Cardi dropped on Instagram.

Obviously, Nicki disliked Cardi before that, but this was the first public acknowledgment of it.

Next came a new Nicki lyric.

"I heard these labels are trying to make another me/Everything you’re getting little hoe is because of me." - Nicki Minaj, "No Flag"

Nicki claimed that lyric wasn't about Cardi, but...who else would that be about? Who else was disrupting Nicki's game on that level?

Things escalated during 2017 and 2018.

They never publicly called each other out, nor publicly feuded.

Instead, media reports posted rumors and rumblings of their apparent dislike of one another. They insisted their was no beef between them.

However...

Nicki finally called Cardi out.

Nicki Minaj Wikia

On her own radio show, Queen Radio, Nicki said this about Cardi:

"To me, she may have taken an issue with things that I’ve said, but I’m not going to bite my tongue."

Nicki was not here for Cardi being sensitive.

"You gotta have thick skin. People talk [expletive] about me all the time. You can’t be expected to be liked and loved and praised all the [expletive] time. Give me a break."

And then the throwdown happened.

Things got really messy at New York Fashion Week in 2018.

You can clearly see what looks like Cardi screaming at a person who appears to be Nicki (in the platinum blonde wig), yelling "[expletive] come here! [expletive] come here!"

It only escalated from there.

A voice says, "I'm stayin' right here," which could be Nicki.

Both women confirmed the incident did indeed happen, and Cardi was later photographed with a large goose egg on her forehead after the incident.

Cardi hopped on Instagram and popped off.

Cardi was furious about alleged comments Nicki had made about her then-newborn daughter.

She also accused Nicki of trying to stop other artists from working with Cardi, threatening to not work with them again if they collaborated with Cardi.

Nicki poked a bit of fun at this note with some new merch.

Nicki released a line of merchandise that included the line "Nicki stopped my bag," referencing Cardi's claim that Nicki attempted to "stop her bags" in her Instagram post.

Things cooled off after that.

Both rappers returned focus to their work. Nicki posted a plea for peace in October of 2018, which Cardi seemed to have accepted...at that time.

I mean, we wouldn't be here if things weren't heating up again, right?

So, here's how the new drama started.

Nicki appeared on The Joe Budden Podcast, where she was asked what she thought about the new Instagram trend of fans posting a ranking of their favorite rappers to their pages.

People immediately knew she was referencing Cardi.

She said, "I would feel so [expletive] crazy if I had number ones and Grammys and ain't on nobody top 50 list."

Nicki does not have a Grammy.

She kept going.

She was on the podcast to settle her beef with the host, Joe Budden. She managed to allegedly shade Cardi in the process.

Nicki started out by discussing her own experiences in her career.

Instagram | @nickiminaj

"I still had to go through these things because of people like you who made a sport out of tearing down a young, black woman who's done nothing but come in this game with an authentic come up, writing raps, and doing what the [expletive] was really actually necessary."

Then she dropped the shade bombshell.

Instagram | @nickiminaj

"No Instagram, no reality shows, no sucking DJ's [expletive]," she continued.

Uh oh. Does that remind you of how any other female rapper got their career started?

People think that shot was at Cardi.

Cardi famously came up in the game through reality TV. She starred in Love & Hip Hop before releasing "Bodak Yellow," which blew up on the charts.

She also was popular on Instagram before she was a rapper, too.

It looks like Cardi ALSO thought her comments were about her.

Twitter | @iamcardib

She took to Twitter after Nicki's comments to post her album sales.

She's sitting at almost 3 million album sales, and claimed that those numbers are the only ones she cares about.

Nicki didn't care for that response.

Instagram | @nickiminaj

She posted two posts to flex: One, celebrating that her latest album, "Queen," has been on the Billboard charts for the last year.

The second was an even bigger flex: her debut album, "Pink Friday" (which is iconic, for the record), outsold Cardi's "Invasion of Privacy" by 120,000.

People are shook.

Apparently, everyone is super tired of Nicki and Cardi's feud.

Not only that, but they're super over Nicki's apparent obsession with comparing herself to Cardi.

I mean...I kinda get it. I'd rather have Nicki's next album.

Others expressed themselves differently.

See what I meant about people being tired of their beef?

This is a more poetic way of saying "get over it," and for that I respect you, Twitter user @cedricandresco2.

Okay...tea.

Listen, I may not fully agree with this, but we cannot deny that a point has been made.

So, whose side are you on? Do you even care? Who wore their chosen weird designer piece better? I personally think Cardi's Chanel jumpsuit slaps.

Is the drama over? Not likely.

I'm sure we'll be seeing some subtle (or not-so-subtle) shady response from Cardi soon. As Azealia Banks so famously said about Cardi and Nicki themselves, "The girls are fighting!"

Why can't we all just get along?
