Bizarre Theory Suggests Hagrid Was Actually A Death Eater In 'Harry Potter'

Er... um... er... what?

Well, you know what, my momma always told me "never judge a fan theory by the name" so we should give this one a fair shake.

Ahh, the 'Harry Potter' series.

Warner Bros

Never before has a series captivated a generation so, shaping the people they would become for the rest of their lives.

Load Comments

The 'Harry Potter' series was very influential, not just to moviegoers but to movies in general.

Warner Bros

Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games, and all those other teen movies took influence from this blockbuster franchise.

Load Comments

And how could it not be such a massive influence?

Warner Bros

There are all sorts of awesome fantastical set pieces, and lore so deep and rich you could get lost in it for hours.

Load Comments

And of course the characters.

Warner Bros

Oh, what lovely characters they were.

From our main, pretty relatable cast, to everyone that surrounded them: the villains, the professors, and the weird creatures that surrounded the students.

Load Comments

And the funniest, most lovable character of them all: Hagrid!

Warner Bros

This gentle giant helps out our hero Harry throughout the entire series, from the beginning where he picks him up to the final battle.

However...

Warner Bros

It seems that once again, an internet patron has come around with some farfetched fan theory to try and taint our views of a perfectly innocent character (ahem, Jar Jar Binks, ahem).

Load Comments

The theory is that Hagrid was one of Voldemort's minions, a Death Eater, throughout the whole series.

Warner Bros

And is sneakily working for the Dark Lord instead of what we thought he was doing: helping Harry.

Load Comments

Of course...

Warner Bros

The theory derives from the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is Reddit and comes from a user named Whoofph.

Today, we're going to dive into that theory to see if it has validity.

Load Comments

Let me start by saying that Whoofph acknowledges that J.K. Rowling probably didn't intend this at all.

Warner Bros

And it was only their genius mind that could notice the patterns in this character.

Load Comments

Things to start to pile up once you read his incredibly long theory.

Warner Bros

For starters, in Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, Hagrid is the one to introduce Harry to Professor Quirrell...

Load Comments

Who ends up being a vessel for Lord Voldemort.

Warner Bros

Also, in that same movie, Hagrid is the one who leads Harry to the Forbidden Forest, where Harry encounters the dark lord of the first time.

Load Comments

He has occasionally broken the rules when it comes to magic, too.

Warner Bros

Remember when he grows a pigtail on Dudley?

Not only does he do it with a half-broken wand, but non verbally as well.

Load Comments

And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Warner Bros

He has a distaste for both muggles and the laws of magic (see above), also he constantly gets the trio into life-threatening situations.

Load Comments

Finally...

Warner Bros

If the other moments weren't enough damning evidence, then keep in mind that it's revealed that Hagrid and Voldemort actually went to Hogwarts together.

They also had some known interactions while schooling together.

Load Comments

What do you think?

Giphy

Was Hagrid secretly a Death Eater the whole time, helping Voldemort in his quest to kill the titular wizard?

Or is he actually... you know what, I think we all know the answer to this question.
