'Willy Wonka' Actress Denise Nickerson Has Died at 62

Denise Nickerson, the actress who played Violet Beauregard in the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, has died.

Nickerson was rushed to the hospital on Monday.

"She's had seizures this morning and is in pulmonary and respiratory distress," the family shared.

Despite reports, Denise was never taken off life support. According to her family, she had a DNR in place.

Her family confirmed her passing several hours later.

Nickerson was most well known for her role in 'Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.'

Her character Violet Beauregard famously consumed gum that turned her skin blue and expanded her into the shape of a giant blueberry.

Nickerson also had roles on 'The Electric Company,' 'Dark Shadows,' and 'The Brady Bunch.'

Nickerson is survived by her son and her daughter-in-law, who have been taking care of her since she suffered a stroke last year.

Nickerson was 62.
