Cameron Boyce's Cause of Death Is 'Pending Further Investigation'

On July 6th, it was confirmed that Disney channel actor and dancer Cameron Boyce had passed away at only 20 years old.

His passing was confirmed by a statement from his family over the weekend, while an autopsy was performed on Monday.

Cameron was most well-known for his work with Disney.

Cameron rose to fame playing Luke Ross on the Disney channel series Jessie starring Debby Ryan from 2011 until 2015.

His 'Jessie' co-stars have paid tribute to Cameron in the wake of his passing.

The actors on the show "were as close as actual brothers and sisters to one another, and still are," according to a statement made by Charles Esten, who played Cameron's on-screen father.

'Jessie' star Debby Ryan shared a sweet video of Cameron to her Instagram story.

The video was taken during Cameron's acceptance speech at the 2018 Thirst Gala for the Pioneering Spirit Award. In the clip, Cameron says, "It’s crazy, we can tweet whenever we want and we can use social media and Instagram and make the world a better place."

Skai Jackson, who played Cameron's younger sister on the show, shared a series of photographs on her Instagram.

"I don’t even know where to start... I am at a loss for words. I never thought in a million years I would be writing this. Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. I am so happy that I got to spend almost everyday with you on set. Thank you so much for being the big brother I never had... I am so distraught and I cannot stop crying! Peyton List, Cameron's on-screen older sister, shared a letter written to Cameron on her Instagram.

"You left everyone including me better than when you found them. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul. Wish I could hug you one last time Cam. My heart is broken I've never hurt this bad. Your sister forever and always, Peyton," her post read.

Cameron was also known for his work in the 'Grown Ups' films.

Cameron played Keithie Feder, one of Adam Sandler's children, in these movies, where he was praised for his comedic skills.

Sandler's statement was emotional.

Cameron's father, Victor Boyce, shared a message of gratitude over the weekend.

Victor tweeted, "I’m overwhelmed with the love and support our family has received. It really does help to ease the pain of this nightmare I can’t wake up from. I can’t thank you guys enough."

After Cameron's passing, the family released an official statement.

"It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron," a spokesperson for the family told CNN. "He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated."

The family said, "The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights."

"But his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother," read the statement.

Cameron reportedly was discovered by his roommate, fellow 'Jessie' star Karan Brar.

According to TMZ, Cameron was found unresponsive by his roommate after suffering a seizure.

Cameron had recently moved in with 'Jessie' co-star, Karan Brar, who has shared a photo of Cameron on his Instagram since his passing.

Karan captioned the photo with a heartbreaking message.

Karan wrote, "You were the greatest thing to have ever happened to me. i love you so much cam. wish i had more to say right now but i don’t think words will come for a while. thank you to everyone who sent such kind words my way. know i haven’t been responding but it truly means a lot."

An autopsy was completed on Monday, but the cause of death was not released.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner released a statement that stated, "In the early afternoon of July 6, Cameron Mica Boyce (DOB: 05/28/99) was found unresponsive in his home located in the 5100 block of Cartwright Avenue in North Hollywood."

"Authorities were called and Boyce was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 p.m."

The statement continued, "An autopsy was performed today and a cause of death was deferred pending further investigation."

At the time of the incident, law enforcement reportedly did not suspect foul play.

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources categorized the incident as a "natural death."

However, Cameron's parents have confirmed the cause of Cameron's death themselves.

Speaking to People, the family said that Cameron's "tragic passing was due to a seizure as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy."

Cameron's family's statement continued.

“We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss."

The family also requested privacy in order to make arrangements for Cameron's funeral.
