Jaclyn Hill Addressed Her Moldy Lipsticks In Controversial New Video

YouTuber and beauty guru Jaclyn Hill has come under fire recently for her janky makeup brand launch earlier this month. And by janky, I mean sis really just released and SOLD thousands of unhygienic and possibly hazardous lipsticks.

Full video is linked below the video breakdown.

Lipstickgate 2k19 has been an emotional roller coaster, but sis — we're just getting started.

Jaclyn Hill announced the release of her makeup company Jaclyn Cosmetics at the end of May.

She announced she would be releasing an all nude collection of 20 lipsticks that would be available for purchase on May 30th.

Jaclyn said she challenged herself into creating the best lipstick that she has ever used.

"It took many different labs, many different samples. I am so proud of this lipstick you guys."

She boasted the lipstick was cruelty free, made in the USA and contained "beautiful" ingredients.

This SHOULD have gone well, y'all. It really should have. But, it absolutely did *not*.

The second fans started receiving their lipsticks, it was clear something had gone very, very wrong.

Some lipsticks came with a gritty texture on the top which is completely unheard of and absolutely unacceptable.

Health code violation anyone????

Jaclyn tweeted saying she was going to get to the bottom of that one.

A lot of people were NOT impressed with her "promise," and tbh, I don't blame them. If I paid 18 dollars for a lipstick and got this, I would not be happy with this tweet.

This one lipstick just fully crumbled after one use.

No tea no shade but this is a classic example of an expired makeup product or makeup that was sitting in a lab from HELL?

The melting appeared to be a total epidemic.

Which is crazy because you'd expect a lipstick to melt in your makeup bag if it's left in a hot car for 3 days, not if it just came in the mail...

Before Jaclyn had a chance to really respond, even more drama happened.

This time involving celebrity turned beauty guru Kylie Jenner. Kylie, as you might know if you're not living under a makeup covered rock, has her own incredibly successful line of lipstick and makeup called Kylie Cosmetics.

Kylie, apparently blissfully unaware of all this drama, posted this on Instagram story.

A video of herself opening her Jaclyn Hill lipstick collection, telling all of her followers that she is "so excited" to get them and wear them.

She deleted the story almost immediately.

I'm willing to bet that had something to do with the no doubt hundreds of people messaging her to tell exactly what had been going on with Jacyln's lipsticks.

The video began with a whole lot of excuses.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

In the video simply titled "My Lipsticks" Jaclyn is sat down on her chaise lounge, sans makeup and ready to talk about what tf HAPPENED.

Since she's in sweats we know she *truly* means apology business.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

Jaclyn jumps right in, letting fans know she will be covering the following bases: "I wanna talk about the melting issue. I wanna talk about white fuzzies. I wanna talk about the black holes and I wanna talk about the grittiness and texture you guys are experiencing."

In regards to the accusations that her lipsticks were expired, Jaclyn said the lab didn't go into mass production until the same month that she launched her brand.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

"Mass production did not go into production until right before my launch because we wanted them to be fresh."

Jaclyn then went on to say her lipsticks were totally still safe to use, "My lipsticks are not moldy. They are not hazardous. They are not contaminated. They are not unsafe for you in any way. shape or form."

Jaclyn then proceeded to attach a photocopy of her Certificate of Good Manufactoring Practice from April 2017.

In regards to the black dots, Jaclyn claims they're oxygen bubbles from the cool down process.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

'It's not actually like black holes. Again, it's not mold. It is oxygen and it is 100% safe, it's not gonna hurt you."

Jaclyn claims the chunks and texture in the lipsticks is coming from the ingredients not being mixed together properly.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

"That vat is not breaking down all of my raw materials because we produced so many lipsticks so quickly... We made a lot of product in a very short amount of time."

In retrospect, Jaclyn agrees the lab moved too quickly and that caused the product to be rushed and the ingredients to not be blended properly.

And now, the white fuzzies...

Jaclyn claims the lab decided to use white cloth gloves instead of the standard rubber gloves because of the metal like material used in the lipstick component.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

She claims the lab didn't want to put smudges on the component so they instead used cloth gloves that shed a lot of lint. She claims these gloves are no longer being used.

Lastly, Jaclyn addressed the melting issue, saying her lipsticks were not designed to withstand intense heat and recommends costumers let their lipsticks cool before opening them.

She explains it's a very creamy lipstick formula but when they're being shipped across the country with different temperatures, they're prone to sweating and melting.

Finally, Jaclyn takes a moment to thank everyone for their honesty and hopes her cosmetics company can move forward with a new lab.

YouTube | Jaclyn Hill

"I'm so sorry for anyone who received anything less than perfect. I take full responsibility... I am so sorry."

Jaclyn Hill began responding to people's social media posts about her lipsticks in an attempt to control the situation.

Little did she know what a SCANDAL this would turn into.

Jaclyn tweeted on June 11th (5 days!!!! after fans starting complaining about their lipsticks) that she would be making a full video to address the scandal soon.

I had a feeling it would be a lot of excuses and sure enough.... That is exactly what it turned out to be. People were NOT happy.

So far, the response to the video has been INCREDIBLY negative.

Fans feel manipulated and and lied to!

You can watch the full *dramatic* video for yourself and see what you think!

Are you willing to give Jaclyn Cosmetics another chance?

Fellow YouTuber and beauty guru RawBeautyKristi filmed a review video after posting this shocking photo to her Twitter.

Twitter | @rawbeautykristi

I mean, this is just SO NOT OKAY.

In her video, she takes the Jaclyn Cosmetics lipsticks under a microscope and reveals a truly horrifying sight.

Air bubbles, hairs and bacteria GALORE.

Some of the closeup shots were straight up nauseating.

YouTube | RawBeautyKristi

I honestly don't care what these hairs or bubbles are, I do not want to put them anywhere near my mouth.

In response to the video, Jaclyn tweeted at Kristi telling fans it was NOT hair.

Jaclyn claimed, "My factory used brand new white gloves to do quality control & they shed all over my product!"
