It Looks Like There Could Be A Third 'Father Of The Bride' Movie In The Works

Rumors of a third Father Of The Bride movie have been circulating the web for years, and fans have waited patiently for an announcement — with no such luck.

But it looks like things are turning around — as confirmation has officially been made by a reliable source.

Steve Martin was a household name in the '90s.

Basically, if Steve was starring in a flick, then you knew it was going to be a major blockbuster.

And without a doubt, one of his best comedy films was "Father Of The Bride", released in 1991.

If you're having a hard time remembering the plot, don't worry — I got you.

Steve Martin plays an overprotective father who finds out his daughter is engaged when she returns home from studying abroad.

From meeting the in-laws to planning the wedding — all the while, completely disapproving of the engagement in the first place, the fun never stops.

But eventually, George finds a way to accept his daughter's fiancée and learn to be happy for them.

It was the perfect happy ending we all hoped for.

The movie was such a hit, they released a sequel, "Father Of The Bride II" in 1995 — another instant classic.

After George finally gets used to his daughter being married, he learns that she is pregnant and has his world shaken all over again.

So, if you were a fan of those two movies, I've got some incredible news for you.

IMDb

There is quite possibly a third installment in the works.

You might remember George Newbern, who played Bryan MacKenzie in both movies.

He spilled some pretty scalding tea.

He revealed to US Weekly that a script for a third movie does exist.

IMDb

"[Director] Charles Shyer wrote a script. I know there's a script out there," he said.

If I told you people were excited, that would be an understatement.

"And there's talk. I don't know how far it got but I'm sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right."

IMDb

"So maybe that's just a question of that happening," he added.

"I have heard some [concepts] and they are pretty far out there. From what I heard it was pretty good and different and newsworthy," he continued.

When asked what his character might be up to these days, he said: "I think Bryan MacKenzie would probably be a grandfather now."

"They had a kid so he’s probably got a grandkid at this point, I think. Or at least close to it," he went on.

IMDb

"Or his daughter would be getting married."

As we all know, they had another daughter at the end of Father of the Bride II.

"He’s probably invested in a startup in Silicon Valley because they are on the West Coast. And they probably live up in the Bay area. They got four kids."

IMDb

"They need to shoot the third one. We need to do a third one. That would be great," he said.

To make the likelihood of a third film being made even higher, Disney is apparently looking to reboot a ton of '90s classics.

IMDb

Hollywood Reporter revealed last year that Disney has shown interest in bringing back a few major '90s movies, like The Parent Trap, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, and Father Of The Bride.

All three of those would be amazing potential reboots that all '90s kids would be stoked about.

Only time will tell, unfortunately.

I will personally be livid if they don't make a "Father Of The Bride 3" — especially now, knowing that there is a script for it somewhere out there, just begging to be brought to life.
